Totally agree
Seen they're playing the Union Chapel in December? I saw them for the first time at ULU ?last year and much as I already loved those 2 albums, they totally blew me away live.
i won't be able to go :(
but i am starting to think that the Devil, You + Me is the more enjoyable of the non-grunge Notwist albums
Wow! Thanks for the heads up
I saw them at the ICA and they were fantastic. Missed the ULU gig unfortunately.
At the ICA, they kept on doing encore after encore.
I can't wait to see them at the Union Chapel. A venue I've always wanted to go to, but haven't yet managed to.
Wii
Me either (union chapel). Were they using the Wii controllers at ICA? If not you're in for a treat!
neon golden
is one of the best albums on the 00s.
Yes
Neon Golden is stunning. Easily one of my top five albums.
oh yeah
at the Ramona Falls/Dear Reader gig last month, the merch stall was randomly selling other cds/vinyls also, and I managed to buy Neon Golden on two small 3" cds! Nice little oddity to buy.
Am looking forward to the Union Chapel gig.
wow
did not know about that union chapel gig
have to try and get a ticket
neon golden is a beautiful record, pick up the phone one of my favourite songs ever
i have two spare tickets for the union chapel
if anyone wants them (£39.60 for the pair). We Got Tickets has sold out, I think See Tickets still has some but obviously they charge stupid booking fees! PM me if interested. Cheers
shrinks a great album too, probably beats devil for me
chemicals is probably my favourite track after consequence, also check out 'unseen sights' by alias for the a great Acher vocal track
And their related acts, 13+God and Ms John Soda are worth checking out
Probably also console, but I haven't had time to listen yet.
lali puna's fantastic too of course and they're in a new band called
3shades... haven't had a chance to listen to the album properly yet though
Shrink is quality!
I think it might even beat Neon Golden in my estimation. Chemicals really is an excellent track, I love the jazzier songs like Moron, N.L. and Your Signs, too. And No Encores, when it breaks down into those quivering strings, with kind of subtle growling electronics buried in the mix - I've never heard something sound so melancholic and aggressive at the same time, but it's absolutely perfect for the song. Great band!
amazing band, amazing sound
saw them live at La Route Du Rock two years ago, made me drift into into the sky
I saw them at Field Day 2008
One of them was using Nintendo Wii controllers to work his keyboard and computer.
Whats not to love about that? :-)
Ha I said the same aboev!
oops, above
the wii remotes were brilliant! and you could REALLY tell the difference it made to the sound...er...
Ha, missed that you mentioned this too!
And it made a MASSIVE difference. MASSIVE...
:-)
more wii remotes needed!
I really can't get into their older noisier stuff but I picked up Neon Golden when someone compared them to the Postal Service and was completely blown away! Neon Golden is more of a complete album but a couple of the tracks on The Devil, like the title track, Alphabet and Gloomy Planets are the band's best work by far. Better not take blooming years to do the next one!
Has anyone got the making of Neon Golden dvd, is it worth getting?
yup
I have the dvd and would definitely recommend it. I just remember watching it and falling in love with the album again. I should watch the dvd again, but I never seem to revisit any kind of music dvds ever.
