Wilco
They were so so amazing in Leeds last night
I really enjoyed them headling at Green Man
and wish I was rich enough to also have seen them in Leeds last night :)
Fantastic show!
what did they play?
wanted to go but couldn't afford it :(
Do you like the new album? I'm not that impressed by it.
I think the firing of Bennett was a poor move by Tweedy.
I'm not sure those two points can be related
since Bennett was fired in 2001/2002. Unless you mean you didn't much like any of the last three records.
I quite like the new album (mind you I liked Sky Blue Sky so what do I know). Bull Black Nova is fantastic.
Yeah, that is what I mean.
I think their output has been on a slow decline since he was fired.
hmmm...
i wanted to argue with this but i can't. ghost is born is an excellent, excellent record, but it's not as good as YHF.
Not much is as good as YHF
Wilco might have moved into 'dad rock', but it's very good dad rock in my opinion. Jeff Tweedy actually seems to be happy (well, happier) these days and for better or worse (or neither) the music has changed with it I think.
wtf is dad rock ? I'm a dad, I like rock, does that mean
when I listen to Anal Cunt its dad rock ?
as for you Kurt Russell, if you don't like their output since the dead bloke left, don't listen to it. Go whinge somewhere else about who's better, Editors or Interpol or something.
interpol
You have a point.
I'm sorry.
thats ok. Lets move on from this. I for one am bloody annoyed
that Wilco can't tour the UK properly. random dates here and there aren't good enough ! I'm yet to see them. Most frustrating was they headlined Greenman which is half hour from where I live but I couldn't attend. They could at least play Bristol ?
a fairly even split of stuff
between the new album, Ghost and YHF with a bit of Summerteeth and Sky Blue Sky thrown in. Best bits were probably A Shot In The Arm, Jesus Etc with Jeff letting the crowd sing the whole thing, and starting the encore with Via Chicago. It was a really good show, if just a touch short of spectacular.
Fantastic in Leeds
although no Via Chicago :(. I'm the Man Who Loves You was my highlight of the show, not my favourite Wilco song but amazing on the night.
They do need to tour more often, I've been listening to them for years and its the first time I've caught them.
I was really blown away.
But then i really like the new record. Bull Black Nova sounded incredible live. So many highlights but Handshake Drugs and Shot In The Arm were probably my favourites.
It's always great to see a band enjoying themselves on stage. They looked like they were having the time of their lives. And although I'd be the first to acknowledge the brilliance of Bennett i do think there's still so much to love about last night's Wilco.
