The Scottish Play: Wherein the Group Parenthetical Girls Pay Well Intentioned [if occassionally misguided] Tribute To The Works Of Ivor Cutler
New (((GRRRLS))) EP today, in which they cover 4 tone poems and 4 songs by Ivor Cutler.
So far, so good. Never checked out the big guy before, despite him clearly being an influence on two of my favourite groups, of Montreal and P. Girls.
I really like Doughnut in particular.

Parenthetical Girls
Never listened to Parenthetical Girls but Ivor Cutler
is one of my faves, so I shall have to check this out.
Even though he is pretty much the most uncoverable person ever. I imagine they at least haven't tried to do Life in a Scotch Sitting Room.
Come to think of it, I may have heard Song for Ellie Greenwich. S'alright.
wow, this sounds kind of incredible (or possibly incredibly bad)
I do love Parenthetical Girls, and i do love Ivor Cutler, but will they mix? I love mushrooms and i love ice cream too.
and to milkandkisses, i really hope they have covered Life in a Scotch Sitting Room :D that would be most awesome. That and Bicarbonate of Chicken, oh please.
oo, it's on spotify!
winner
the songs are lovely
but i'm not much of a fan of the poems. They haven't added much, and Ivor did it better.
Doughnut is great :)
I'll have to agree with this conclusion
maybe Life in a Scotch Sitting Room would have been nice.
Poems-wise, I think the faux-field recording bits said a lot. Wheras Mr. Cutler did ambience naturally, Parenthetical Girls try a bit too hard, on the poems.
BUT, Going in a Field and Doughnut are good, and shall make me check out Parenthetical Girls' wares some more.
