Albums of the Decade 2000/09 ??
Well this was so so difficult. What a decade it's been musically! In the end all I could do, was to go with nominating the albums that have been wearing out my turntable over the past ten years.
So here goes ..... in no particular order:
Arcade Fire- Neon Bible
Arctic Monkeys- Whatever people say I am, That's What I'm Not
Band of Horses - Everything All the Time
Bon Iver- For Emma Forever Ago
Centro-Matic- Fort Recovery
The Decemberists- The Crane Wife
Editors- The End has a Start
Elbow- Seldom Seen Kid
Great Lake Swimmers- Ongairo
The Hold Steady- Boys & Girls of America
Interpol- Turn on the Bright Lights
Jakob Dylan- Seeing Things
Laura Marling- Alas I cannot Swim
The National- The Boxer
Radiohead -In Rainbows
Ryan Adams- Cold Roses
Sigur ros- Taak
The Shins- Chutes too Narrow
Sun Kil Moon- April
The Stills- Logic with Break your Heart

it's too early for this nonsense
and no one cares about your rubbish list
Come back to me in 2011 to discuss this decade's best albums
I had a bit of a rant a couple of weeks ago on the BCB Music Blog about end-of-decade lists and how it is way too early to judge properly...

Albums of the Decade 2000/09 ??
Hi, I do agree with the general feeling here but the media world is about 'Now' reviewing the albums of this decade in two years time would gain little response on the newsstands I feel. However, without a doubt, the votes we are collecting on our own website would no doubt throw up different albums if we took the poll in 2012 (which we will do ... all being well!) nb. The title does have ??? in it meaning would anyone ever have a definative list?
We are not closing our voting until 01 Jan 2010 (and will re-open it in 2012). For our site it is a bit of fun and it was great to go back and just listen to albums that had not been played for quite a while. Still we are not selling magazines or trying to sell music I guess :) Pete
I smell
JAG!
In "no particular order"?
Damn, if you were just typing them randomly you sure got alphabetically lucky.
What is this? the spanish inquisition?
NOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION!
There's a few surprises on your list (and not good surprises either) but on the whole it is a very samey, predictable list. Spend the rest of the decade listening to music that you haven't heard yet. You need some much cooler music on your list dude.
I haven't heard the new Editors and I really like them so I can't say but basically: Keep Interpol, throw out the rest of your list and start listening 24-7.
You've just been "edited" by a great music mind- don't waste it.
PAHAHAHAHA
Your final statement...
...whilst funny, lost any chance of being credible when you mentioned you really like Editors.
At least Edith Bowman has the excuse of being married to one of them.
Actually that's no excuse, and just makes her even more tasteless.
edith bowman, edith bowman, blah, blah
whenever someone wants to gut Editors for no GOOD reason it's
edith bowman, edith bowman, blah, blah, blah
Editors are a good, good band and someone over there is not half bad at tunesmanship
OK here's a good reason...
...they're distinctly average.
You described them rather well yourself...blah, blah, blah...
they're distinctly pretty fucking good
eat more donuts and go into the light
I don't really like donuts
...
The Drift by Scott Walker
destroys all in its way.
^truth spoken here.
It single handedly negates the entire concept of pop music.
What the hell does that even mean?
it means hes gay 4 scott
Well duh
Who isn't?
Women
Nope, them too.
Just for him though.
Don't be getting any ideas you fucking pervert.
Don't worry about it little boy
here's a candy apple.
Neon Bible but no Funeral!? Does not compute.
hold fire
we've spent the past few months building technology so that you'll be able to vote and rate every album from the decade in our quest for records which are definitively the best (and not necessarily the most popular!)
that said
when johnm does his inevitable thread it'll be a lot less likely to break down than whatever dis codes
truth
Demorcracy sucks
I like technology though
We don't deserve you Sean: First the ^This Button and now Electronic Polling- Keep it coming big guy!
Democracy suck too
also: thanks for spell check
also: Democracy suckS
Is there grammar check?
By 'Albums of the decade'
you mean 'non-threatening 4/4 faintly 'alternative' guitar heavy albums of the decade' yeah?
An 'album of the decade' list
that contains the Arctic Monkeys. Seriously, surely you can try a bit harder than that. There are only two albums on that list that i would consider putting in my top ten, and one of them you seem to love so much you've got its title wrong (Boxer)
Jesus Christ
ppl like what they like, everyone's not going to agree
