Zan Lyons (semi-Jag)
I'm putting a gig on for Zan Lyons in a church come November, and I've suddenly realized, that without having released anything in nearly 10 years, his stuff still sounds as fresh and as innovative as anything else I've heard recently.
Any more Zan lovers? he has a new CD/DVD thing imminent apparently!

aye, Desolate is pretty grand
I keep hearing about him still doing stuff, but I've never yet seen him. Glad there's some new material en route, though - do you have any details about it?
all that plus
Can you point us in the direction of said gig?
all i know
is that he's been away doing his visual stuff and playing live, as that's what he's more about than records! but there's a new album coming very soon apparently, all with videos/ short films attached.
and the church gig is in Leeds on the 14th November @ The Holy Trinity on Boar Lane. more info on www.myspace.com/thisisitforeverlive and you can buy tickets from http://www.wegottickets.com/event/56334
:)
He's damn good...
Yes, played on same bill as him at a festival in Amsterdam in 99 and he was superb. Lovely man too - extra calm and collected in contrast with his music. Didn't realise he was still making music - what's his new work like? Good luck with the gig btw.
i'm not sure!
i did an interview with him for Traffic magazine, that should see the light of day really soon, but he didn't give anything away about what the new stuff will be like, but i guess you'll have to come to leeds to find out, eh?! hehe.
last time i saw him, it was at the Brudenell last year, and he sounded something like this- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IntMIqUk1Mg
awesome.

my interview
went up on Traffic's site today-

anyone?
anyone read it? any thoughts? ANYONE?!?!?
Thanks
for posting this. I loved 'Desolate' and 'Warring Factions'. I'd heard he was "doing film stuff" but I haven't seen him play live for ten years and had kinda lost touch. Good luck with the Leeds gig.
Lovely interview.
Inspiring even. The stuff about improvising/pre-programmed stuff is particuarly interesting.
If I lived anywhere near Leeds I'd go, but I don't so I won't.
he's such a nice guy too!
there was so much more interesting stuff that didn't make the interview either. maybe i should put the whole thing up somewhere?!
aww, sucks you can't come to leeds to see him... booo!
