club nights in london are fucking boring
whatever happened to interesting, exciting nights like nag nag nag, trash, etc
secret gigs make it onto the nme for god's sake...and even "secret warehouse parties" are about as secret as the general election...and always in the same 3 or 4 carparks/warehouses in east london.
is anyone else a bit...bored?

lightbox and corsica studios are fairly interesting
are just about my favourite places.
my problem is that anywhere with 'passing trade' is usually shit. but sometimes i don't want to have to plan a night weeks in advance.
i want to be drinking in an area and spontaneously decide to go to a decent club.
*and are
you should come and see some
bands at Cargo tonight, its free!
Dark Horses
Race Horses
Islington Boys Club
Theres more of us than there are of you
And Dj sets from Rory Phillips + This Aint No Disco
Fun fun fun!
Club.The.Mammoth.
We're not about boring nights either, we love a party! And an un-pretentious one at that...

I agree to an extent
The only clubs I really look forward to going to these days are Horesemeat Disco and Unskinny Bop, and the latter is more because it's a great piss up with lots of people I know rather than it being particularly groudbreaking musically.
Lightbox always has good stuff but can never find people willing to go with me.
I'd like to think
Some of my God Don't Like It nights are far from boring... Come down to Queen of Hoxton on 24th for Bo Ningen and you certainly won't be bored!
thing is...
i think part of it is that maybe i'm getting a bit older, and maybe it is exciting still to 18 year olds at uni or whatever...but it just feels like a lot of stuff doesn't have the same effort put into it...i agree about corsica though actually - the off modern guys are doing some really interesting stuff - i went to their show last week with lovvers and it was great fun.

?
I always manage to find something good to go to
Living in a Disco, Bad Passion, Work it are all good nights.
I think you have to look in the right places
We put on a night called Bat Attack!, that combines live music, DJs and interactive theatre. We've got The London Leisure Pirates acting troupe (who do loads of the stuff in Shangri La/Trash City at Glasto and have their own tent at Secret Garden Party) every month.
Each month they bring their props and loads of stupid ideas down to The Monarch in Camden, dress up in ridiculous outfits and create some kind of weird debauched world.
They do weird stuff every week - They have 'Dave offs', they do wheelchair jousting, give out doctor's notes to everyone, have an ego-massage chair and a wall for employee of the minute...
They're also currently working on a wartime themed musical called Wowschwitz, which is going to be amazing.
It's fun. It's not 'cool' and it's not fold-your-arms and listen to a DJ play obscure white labels you've never heard before. But I think it's a top night out.
If anyone fancies it, there's one on tonight and you can look here at our Facebook group for pictures and stuff...

i'm bored
of the fakeness of the 'warehouse parties'. party my arse. they're properly run gigs with door staff. the only difference is buying your booze via a fucking cloakroom/raffle ticket.
Totally this.
And places in Hackney Wick which are advertised as "raves" -yes, raves where you can't bring your own booze.
this isn't particularly unique to london
i've been to warehouse shows in new york and they're run like proper shows there as well, the difference (as with here to an extent) is that the atmosphere is usually better and the lineups are more consistent. last year i saw Black Dice in a grain silo in Williamsburg and These Are Powers in some guy's home in Whitechapel last year and i had so much more fun at both than if I'd seen them at Cargo or Bardens.
by 'consistent'
do you mean the same four bands and DJs playing every single one of them? in east london. OBVIOUSLY.
wellllllllll that's not exactly the case
but there's certainly a musical community that has sprung in/around that particular 'scene'. i'm not entirely convinced that's a bad thing to happen in london, either.
i mean "consistency" in thew ay that i'm far more likely to go and see four bands i've never heard of in a warehouse than i would be in a regular venue. they're people's homes generally and they're hardly likely to go to the effort of putting on a band just because they'll bring down x number of people.
i think you'll find the gigs in people's homes are house parties
maybe here, not necessarily in new york
people put on like, actual shows. yeah, there's a community around it and a social element, but it is also people going and paying whatever the price is to come in and see the bands play.
Try starting something then
I don't mean that in a mean way either.
I'm not mega into clubs like you describe - I just like to go and dance to songs I like. But clubs always just seemed to play the libertines et al.
So I got some like minded mates together and we started our own one. AQnd it's going pretty well. Why you don't you try likewise? After all, I can do it, and I'm an idiot
It's true, he is
meh.
Was trash ever interesting? I look back on my student days when I used to go every week with a mixture of relief and disdain.
To a great extent the majority of club nights in London have always been shit, but there's a few good promoters putting on great nights in nice venues. Sud Electronic spring to mind as one of the best.
Trash was full of bellends
But I had a decent enough time there on occasion. They has a fashion nazi on the door though for a while- what a tit he was.
There were some really good warehouse parties in manor house i went to for a while. Sure some people here frequented them.
Best clubs I've been to in london? Probably DMZ
By trash do you mean club trailer trash?
Trash at The End
It was an electroclash/electro/indie club that ran for about 8 years or something. I think Erol Alkan and Rory Philips were the DJs a lot of the time. Lots of now big bands played there like LCD Soundsystem, Bloc Party & Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
merok records!!
guys , lock tavern tonight - Thee Fair oohs LIVE + Becoming Real and Teeth! Dj's !
on till one and its FFFFFREEEEE!!!!!!
hi, i'm so-and-so.
my night is obviously different from the ones you're fed up with. it's at this venue on this night. here's the web address and it costs this much and we play music from this set of not-quite-bleeding-edge-indie-bands-and-some-stuff-we-got-from-a-nuggets-compilation. i think you'll find it'll prove you wrong and save your life.
I was never that keen on Trash
They always seemed to play lots of intensely dull house music at the start of the night
I can sort of see what you're getting at... I think Upset the Rhythm are amazing but thats just gigs I guess.
Hi I'm so-and-so jr.
Come to Pic 'n' Mixx on October 30 at the Buffalo Bar. You want effort, you've certainly got it.

What the fuck does cutting-edge mean anyway? I'm cutting some edges when I make the flyers later this week.
If I lived in London I'd get to...
DMZ, FWD>> and Fabric all I could. Plus Night Slugs, Deviation Sessions, Ketoloco and maybe Beyond when they're on. They all look amazing, I've been to Fabric it was a right laugh. I've been to the DMZ they put on in Leeds as well and thats always on point.
Ketoloco?
lol
cos I know a few of them
I've never been to their night though, I take it its not to hot?
all club nights are boring
same shitty playlists to the same shitty crowd drinking the same shitty discounted bottles of pissy lager
BOREDOM
I'm new to London but 'Upset the Rhythm' know their shit. I'm going to 'Nightslugs' too at the end of the month cos people speak highly of it. Other than that you gotta research shit here otherwise your gonna be dancing to Razorlight off Oxford Street crying into the bottom of your pint glass.
I always like the idea of going to a night with a bit more to it
besides live music and DJs.
But they always seem to be put on by people with shit taste in music.
i used to enjoy white heat
sometimes it was a great night. Bands I really wanted to see, then dj's playing music I sometimes wanted to dance to. I mean, aren't they the two main elements to a good club night? besides good company.
I never really cared that the place was full of twats, so long as I went with nice people.
