"GRIMMROBES LIVE" ~Anyone else here get it? The hammer has been passed.
Hammer of God's that is
This is sunn O))) live, performing The Grimmrobe Demos.
It's a cassette but you get a code to download mp3s of it + a great (short) video of the gig's final moments.
It's surely the best Live Album Of The Naughts- yes!

I love Sunn as much as the next person...
but i can't imagine live albums being that good. Oracle was alright but i was there at the recording where you couldn't see them and to an extent i reckon that is sort of the half way point between live and studio. I wouldn't be bothered about listening to Grimmrobe Demos live on tape. Seeing it live sure. I doubt it will end up being the best live album of the last 5 years, let alone the 21st century.
I am biased over Grimmrobes Live- I had tickets for the Portland show and missed it but...
This recording is amazing. I get what you're saying about better seeing it live- I have seen them live and there is something in that experience you're not going to get on any mere record or cd- a big "something" but this recording is amazing.
let me say that again: "This recording is amazing"
Seeing the Grimmrobe Demos played live
at Supersonic this year was awesome-o but I think I'd much rather listen Domkirke which is gotta be better than Grimmrobe live. Saint Cronin will know for sure but I'm pretty convinced that Domkirke is a live album too and it's way more interesting for home listening than Grimmrobe live.
Dømkirke- yeah, I forgot about that one
I actually named it in my top 10 last year but GRIMMROBES LIVE is mesmerizing. 132 minutes long, kid you not, not to be missed.
I got "GRIMMROBES LIVE" off their merch in Salt Lake for $15
they are going for $45 on discogs- if you can find one anywhere- get it. I don't know if Southern Lord has them or not.
get one
trust me
They were selling the tape at Supersonic
but I decided to pass (I'd already spent a couple of mortgage payments in the shop by then). I'm seeing them again in December and I dare say they'll be on offer there so I might give it a bash. Loving that it's on cassette too - very noise band-esque!
I don't have a decent deck anymore but I do have a JVC Kaboom Box
Sounds so good on that. Full Volume (just like the instructions say) and since it's a tape the low frequency doesn't cause skipping like cd players.
So cool you got to see Grimmrobes. You SHOULD tell me about that. I got snowed in at my house in Montana by an early blizzard-42 inches. Couldn't make in out of the area. We were inconsolable for about a month. They headlined a 3-day black music festival in Portland "Fall Into Darkness" and perform The Grimmrobe Demos. We also missed Grails, Thrones, Wolves In The Throneroom. Wanted to see Grails and Thrones so bad too.
such a freaking drag
We are totally seasoned winter drivers too. Driven through immensely hairy shit but that storm was impossible- just impossible.
i hope they have this at atp
it's nowhere else to be found.
the very naughty mp3s i hypothetically got sound hypothetically very good though.
good boy
Damn
You really can't buy it anywhere at a fair price.
too bad
