Morrissey or Marr?
So, both started off in The Smiths (for sake of arguement): Johnny Marr joins The The, Morrissey does 'Viva Hate'. Marr makes Electronic, Morrissey makes 'Kill Uncle'. the next 10+ years for both are hit and miss. In 2003, Johnny Marr released 'Boomslang', a year later Morrissey does 'You Are The Quarry'. Marr goes on to join Modest Mouse and The Cribs, Morrissey releases two of his best albums in a while.

Are Cilla Black covers a good idea? Is this a stupid idea for a thread?

Marr.
The The album with Marr=better than any Morrissey solo stuff.
Nah.
It's like telling someone they've got to murder one of their parents. I love them both in different ways.
Marr's not actually done anything since leaving the Smiths, it's nonsense to talk about his output since, he's just a glorified session musician. No-one could really tell he was in Modest Mouse, or really gives a shit that he's in the Cribs, it's just honouary sales-seeking wankery. Electronic had one song, The The were garbage, and the Healers stuff was embarrassing. He was a genius, though, might well still be, i don't know. There couldn't have been a Smiths without Johnny Marr. People paint Morrissey out to be the genius, but it was at least 50/50, possibly in Marr's favour. He's someone i could listen to talk all day, and someone i'd love to have a beer with.
Morrissey's released six great studio records (plus Bona Drag), and churns out great track after great track, still. He's absolutely relevant whereas Marr sadly isn't, and is still the greatest lyricist there is. Although i absolutely adore him i realise he's a dickhead, and i'd be unfussed about meeting the fella, though as a subject i still find him absolutely fascinating. He's fifty, FIFTY, and has been massively famous for half of his life, yet no-one knows anything about him beyond he's from Manchester, is a bit miserable and likes the odd book.
