Anyone been to any of the Serpentine Sessions
gigs in Hyde Park?
They billed the things as: "a unique and intimate series of concerts. Each event will take place in a beautiful, specially designed area in the royal park. Unlike other London outdoor events, these concerts will be very intimate".
“Serpentine Sessions were created to support unique, visionary artists and allow concertgoers to enjoy prestigious acts in a stunning location where the focus is the music”.
What we actually got was the rubbish second stage from the Wireless festival (not even really outdoors at all) and a Domino’s pizza van. You could see the rest of the set-up for Wireless festival from behind a fence, the promise of Dizzee Rascal ripping it up on a massive stage just making the ‘intimate acoustic second stage’ even more pathetic, being as it was a hastily erected bandstand next to some picnic tables. Poor old ‘It Hugs Back’ Bon Iver's ‘visionary’ support band last night. Couldn’t hear them for Twittering yuppie mongs.
Forty quid, cheers.
