Any Neil Young fans here?
I'm new here and a long time (as in since 1974) Neil Young fan. First show I saw was the 1976 Neil Young & Crazy Horse Zuma tour and then many more after that. Just heard he announced dates in the UK?
I'm also a singer/songwriter heavily influenced by Neil's music. I had a chance to chat with Mr. Young last May whilst enjoying a nice Sunday with my children at a local Aquarium. Neil Young was there with his son Ben doing the same thing.
He stopped to talk with me and we talked about his latest Archives project, Lincvolt and the like. Then I told him I was a musician with two songs up on his website that are doing quite well. Neil's attitude suddenly got brighter. He became very supportive and encouraging and urged me to keep it up. When I told him I sing and play his songs on YouTube he acted flattered and gave me a thumbs up saying that was very cool and thanked me for it (couldn't quite believe the graciousness of his reaction).
We ended the conversation by him extending his hand to me and giving me a warm and friendly handshake.
Since that time I ran into Crazy Horse bassist Billy Talbot at last years Bridge Benefit concert. After talking with him a while he looked at me and suddenly recognized me from YouTube. He became very friendly and told me he listens to me regularly and complemented me on the job I do on their songs. Couldn't quite believe that either.
Recently the Bridge School forwarded one of my songs to Pegi Young and that was great news. Was a song about the loss of freedom for todays children.
Those are my stories about Neil Young. If you have any of your own please share!
Cheers, Gil
