Feeling REALLY old at gigs
I know this gets done from time to time, but last night I felt ancient at a gig. Not really much of a surprise as it was Late of The Pier, but my God. Some of the kids there were with their parents. One group of brothers, of whom the oldest must not have been a day over 13, were there with their (tired looking) mother and all had matching silver jackets and orange jeans. Awww.
This isn't a dig, because I think it's good that kids are still going to gigs, and we were all those boys and girls once (except my mum never came and watched the bluetones with me). But it's just a bit of a realisation that at 24, I was one of the elder statesmen last night.
To top off my feelings of being old, we swapped our standing tickets for seated ones as I was tired after a long day at work and the missus' feet hurt. That and I couldn't handle the thought of being jumped into all night. The two teenagers seemed genuinely delighted they had standing tickets though.
One thing I will say about younger audiences - have a bit of respect for the support. Micachu and the shapes supported last night and I could barely hear them over the chatter. LOTP got a thunderous reaction mind.
NB: LOTP were amazingly dreadful, and I even fell asleep at one point. Sarah liked them though, so I suppose thats what counts.
