When did you "discover" indie music
As opposed to just listening to the big radio stations, what charted, etc. I remember up until last year my favorite band would have probably been The Foo Fighters or Nine Inch Nails (who I still love dearly.) I then, seeing it was free and that my friend loved them, downloaded In Rainbows. I liked it, but it was nothing spectacular to me at first. However, I saw some weird website "Pitchfork" loved their album OK Computer, so I got that. It was good stuff, but I didn't really follow through looking at Pitchfork. However, maybe a month or two later, I got tired of being really confused as this one kid I didn't especially like's shirt with a brain on it, and like a cow, that said "Neutral Milk Hotel." I looked them up expecting some shit an idiot to enjoy, but whaddya know, it was great, and this "pitchfork" site loved that too! I realized that hey, maybe these Pitchfork guys know what they're talking about, so I got Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain, and some other albums they'd given 10s ("I See A Darkness" especially), and then began downloading any album they'd give a 9 or above in a review. Needless to say, exploring from there got me where I am, a frequent on Drowned in Sound!
