Live Albums
I'm listening to H.A.A.R.P by Muse and it sounds great yet it feels absolutely pointless. All the songs sound just like their studio counterparts bar minimal stage banter and crowd cheering. I give great credit to Muse's talent and skill for this but it makes the CD (not necessarily DVD) songs seem redundant. I understand at a Wembley gig you could hardly perform alternate versions of songs to such a big crowd yet it would make a more worthwhile live album.
If a band is near perfect live yet sticks to the studio versions of songs it's great for the crowd but pointless for a CD release. I'd much rather hear live albums like Dylan's 1964 and 1966 Bootlegs which contained better versions of songs (e.g. Spanish Harlem Incident - 1964 and Ballad of a Thin Man - 1966)
