BBC Advert Fee
BBC Scotland are using one of our songs for their winter advert to be broadcast on BBC1 and BBC2 (Television).
It's a 40 second clip of one of our own songs.
Can anyone give me some advice on what sort of fee we should ask for? They're phoning us on Monday...
Cheers
Frank

Welcome to DiS
found this thread

seems it should probably relate to how often they intend to air it.
Well done! Whats the song?
Cheers
Gareth - helpful stuff, it's a winter advert so I think it's gonna be aired quite a few times over the coming months.
I've sent the PRS an email aswell.
The song is Time To Leave it's gonna be on BBC2 a few times tonight - pretty cool likes!
Call a publisher and ask
they should give you a sensible answer
You could try the Record Of The Day Message Board
http://www.recordoftheday.com/mb/
It's an industry site so you'll possibly get a better idea from them if you can't find an answer anywhere else.

SELLOUT
BBC only have to pay MU fees
and a nominal fee on top as they are a non-commercial broadcaster, unless they are using it in an advert for BBC Worldwide.
Thanks alot
this is all very helpful.
All
very helpful apart from the post that calls me a sellout.
Yeah, but he's got a point,
you clearly have sold out.
I know I have
I'd give up making music if i were you.
Ok I've just given up playing music.
now you can sit back
watch your guitar gather dust and slowly feel your body fill up with the warm glow of integrity. much better than a brand new plasma eh? (or rent, sandwhiches, guitar strings etc).
