It was so frustrating last year when they announced a London show, then postponed, then postponed again and in the end cancelled.
There has been talk of a new album since the ned of 2004 when they announced the secret gig in Islington so I really hope this album comes out soon. Finelines was fab and all the new material I've heard sounds just as good.
I still think 'Finelines' is one of the best albums of the 00s. The single they put out a year or so ago was great but it's been SO long it's hard to believe the new one will live up to the hype.
I'm actually clutching the album (a double no less!) in my sweaty hands and I've heard just about every track on the net and radio beforehand. Even then I may believe I'm tripping my nuts off.
I remember how exciting they were when they supported The Crocketts (or visa versa cant remember) in Brum then i also remember how shit they were when they supported Mansun in Wolves by the end of their span....
ithink alot of people who missed out on them must see them as some great MBV like torch barers. They weren't that good. The early singles were, but along came the LP and it wasn't as good as the early promise.
They were just wise enough not to rush out a second album like alot of indie/rock bands do, only to find it gets slated by fans and critics alike, then inevitably split up.
instead they come back and everyone remembers listening to finelines in their bedrooms aged (something)teen. i'm interested to hear this, but probably not holding out that much hope...
as they built up a lot of momentum then just left people hanging for new material, they do seem to have a core of obsessives that have hung on but it's going to be hard work to get back to where they were.
Having said that, I'm intrigued to see what they come up with and they've timed it well with the renewed interest in all things shoegazey, so all good there!
The LP wasn't that good. It was patchy but not shit by a long way. About the time they put out 'Losing Touch' as a single they were a phenominal live band and i could cling to that memory but they had really lost the will to do it by the end. Som had a strop at the Wolves Mansun gig and ended up looking an idiot wacking his guitar off the mic stand and breaking all the strings.

They were amazing

a double-album ?
So the third one will be for 2045 then...
I'll believe it when...

Once upon a time
this news might have excited me. Not any more.
Me too
I remember how exciting they were when they supported The Crocketts (or visa versa cant remember) in Brum then i also remember how shit they were when they supported Mansun in Wolves by the end of their span....
they were tremendous on sunday
.
I'm guessing at least one of the discs will be another remaster of Finelines.
haha
true!
i like how a three date tour
is actually their most extensive in about six years.
Bored
Bored. Bored.
They need to sort their myspace out
It's a disgrace!!
are they not
just regarded as also-rans now... surely they have missed their window of opportunity?
Funnily enough
ithink alot of people who missed out on them must see them as some great MBV like torch barers. They weren't that good. The early singles were, but along came the LP and it wasn't as good as the early promise.
I don't see them as fly by nights
They were just wise enough not to rush out a second album like alot of indie/rock bands do, only to find it gets slated by fans and critics alike, then inevitably split up.
this is true
instead they come back and everyone remembers listening to finelines in their bedrooms aged (something)teen. i'm interested to hear this, but probably not holding out that much hope...
it's a <arf> fine line though
as they built up a lot of momentum then just left people hanging for new material, they do seem to have a core of obsessives that have hung on but it's going to be hard work to get back to where they were.

They took the piss too long, and we've all grown up.
Sorry Som.
Well, im glad there back
can only be a good thing!
Does no one remember
that the album was bollocks?!
No
Because it wasn't (bar C.O.R).
Might listen to it now. In fact, I will do.
Noooo!!!
C.O.R is my favourite moment on there!!!
It's only about 30 seconds
so I don't skip it, I just drift off for a while :)
I do!
Can everyone shut-up about these crappy also-rans now? They were shit at Offset.
Like i said above

Cool
Hope it comes off
no they weren't
finelines was way too long
live they are still great, and i hope that this album will be pretty sweet. i already know it will be too long though
