fao Dublin/County Cork disers- pretty smart Lamacq approved Italian indie rock on tour next week
I’m part of their label (Tea Kettle Records), but I’m confident that this lot are really pretty good!
Parma five piece Isabel at Sunset head over to Ireland next week for a trio of dates in support of debut album Meet the Gang! Isabel make music imbued with shades of 90s American indie and Britpop. Points of reference could be Al Stewart, Sparklehorse, early Oasis, Los Campesinos! Pavement, the Flaming Lips, Henry James, the Times, Dr Who, and Granddaddy. Isabel played English dates in Easter, and have received press coverage and airplay from sources in the USA, Italy, and Mexico, including the Gideon Coe and Steve Lamacq shows for BBC 6music. Feel free to PM me with any press enquiries, queries and the like.
The gigs are:
Thursday June 26th Dublin, Anseo
Friday June 27th Dublin, Ballroom of Romance at the Lower Deck.
Sunday 29th Clonakilty, De Barras
Promotional conjecture:
“I’ve been wanting to play this all week…maybe it’s sort of early alternative, underground, American lo-fi rock. I think you might like this”
Steve Lamacq
The most charming, enjoyable piece of plastic that I’ll hear all year. With both eyes open, Meet the Gang! still makes me really happy to be alive”
Album of the week, Treblezine
“Isabel at Sunset do an admirable job of putting a new spin on the fractured country-blues of their heroes classic Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain LP. Meet the Gang! is a fine collection of heartfelt, summery indie pop…it is bloody good fun”
God Is in the TV
“A continental take on the same sort of literate, meta-referential and yet hyperactive indie pop/rock mix that Britain’s Los Campesinos! do so well…highly recommended.”
The Run Out Groove
“…contains a magnificent delivery of the word “fuck”, which you’re unlikely to hear uttered in quite the same way anywhere else…the enjoyable knock about image they present is a skill in itself”
Stylus
“Endlessly fun indie-pop songs…Meet the Gang! is a timeless genre-crossing debut record that, in time, will have you singing and dancing with the rest of us.”
