City & Colour @ Brighton Komedia Tonight
Right, it was my first time upstairs in the Komedia. It's a pretty swanky place, nice sound too. I was almost surprised to discover rows of seats instead of the usual floor space but I was recovering from the night before and in my slightly hungover and dazed state a seat wasn't a bad idea.
So Dallas comes on yeah, full band and all that. Amazing, as you'd expect. Only one thing bothered me though. A pair of Alexis fans were sitting a bit too close for comfort. Every line of every song they knew, they sang. "Why did this bother you?" I hear you ask. Well, I'm no fascist. If you want to sing, thats fine. Go ahead. You paid for your ticket just like I paid for mine. But at a mainly acoustic, fairly intimate, seated gig? I could feel ripples of discontent surrounding the aforementioned pair, quite clearly they were getting on other peoples nerves as well as my own.
I didn't let it ruin the gig though. Both City & Colour and Attack In Black were brilliant.
Has anyone else encountered this strange fan reaction at an unsuitable time and/or place?
Am I making a big deal out of this?
Probably.
