Being quite new to them both, I just wondered.
they're both fantastic
that it is.
you bring any other albums of theirs into it? Then surely someone has to get hurt?
and I MEAN EVER
to grace this world
Playing my name is jonas, though simple, on guitar hero makes me smile
I perfer Blue album, though its tough
They're both incredible albums, certainly two of my favourites, but, I'm a Weezer obsessive who purchased all five of their albums on the day of their respective releases.
It's very 'indie' to claim to love Pinkerton more than Blue, but, Blue pips it for me. It's just utter perfection that will never be bettered.
Rivers must have realised that which is why Pinkerton is so much darker.
at the time of release Pinkerton was largely blanked. It really did sink without trace at the time. It's a pity that many people who got into them at the time that blue was released didn't bother to check out Pinkerton.
there wasn;t enough room in that title space.
Ah right. I have friends who get very worked up about Blue/Pinkerton, and had always got the impression that everyone says Pinkerton.
I reckon Pinkerton should be less likeable, as its so personal to Cuomoomomomosososos, but somehow that makes it all the more likeable for me.
The middle of Pinkerton is astonishing. I listened to the Green album afterwards and understood why people hate them so much now.
it just pales in comparisson its what proceded it which hurt them... I wouldnt say people hate them, just naive to them.
I still look forward to their releases
Like people have said its just one of the best pop rock albums ever, there is not one track I dislike. Although my friends disagree when I say 'In the garage' is an overlooked gem.
they'll do anything worthwhile again?
I realise Green is still okay - I can understand that when it came out, people who liked Weezer would've thought, this isn't Weezer though, if you see what I mean.
I read Cuomomososos just went for pop after Pinkerton didn't do too well?
they have one of the most loyal followings of any band around. The very fact that the majority of Weezer fans are willing to forgive them for the shower of shit that was Make Believe is proof of that.
Green is a perfectly good album, it doesn't live up to the standard set by Blue or Pinkerton, but, then again few albums by whatever band would.
I also adore Maladroit, I think that is their most maligned album.
some days, i love one more than the other, but it's mostly pretty much equal. i can't wait for the 5th!
and can't wait for the 6th, surely?
Unless you're refusing to count Make Believe and who could blame you?!
I LOVE ALL 4 WEEZER ALBUMS
I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE 5TH
Someone's simply forgotten Make Believe.
Ah sorry, it's just that from my friends, I get the impression of people having given up on them a bit.
what are people's favourite songs from either of those first two albums?
My favourite song at the moment is Across the Sea, simply for the bit at the start of the last chorus (I think), where he come in with "a-why-y-y...".
'only in dreams'. i think everything about it is absolutely perfect. the icing of the perfect pop cake that is blue. the chord progression, the three-part harmonies, the lyrical content, the build up, the let down, the big hook - GAH! everything about it is just perfect!
if i could only listen to one song for the rest of my life, it would be 'only in dreams'. DEFINITELY
to be fantastic I really would. I will defend Weezer in conversation because they have done some truly great stuff but I'm afrid my faith is waning.
to release another astounding studio album.
If so they should tour it, release 'Songs from the Blackhole'/B-sides and rarities album along with the long promised live DVD go out in style with one last tour/stacks of festival perfomances then quit.
i would very much like weezer to go out this way. then i can pass it down to my kids and say "this is the legacy of a truly great band".
their summer 2002 UK tour and their appearance at the 2002 Reading Festival.
If they hadn't bailed out on those I would have seen them 4 times rather than twice both of which occasions were way back in 1995!!!
pinkerton and the blue album are just two of my favorite albums ever. unfortunately, if you put a gun to my head and made me choose, i'd probably choose the blue album.
over Blue album any day. If only for Falling For You, which is pretty amazing; though it's a near perfect album anyway.
It's somewhere in my top whatever. All killer no filler. 'Blue''s got some fine songs but a couple of howlers too. I've found their other albums to be patchy at best although I know many would disagree.
to work out which I prefer.
Only In dreams
across the sea
The Sweater Song
Say It Ain;t So
Falling for You
Tired Of Sex
My Name is Jonas
No Other ONe
Surf Wax USA
The Good Life
No One Else
The World has Turned
In The Garage
I don't know what this means. I've just wasted another 10 minutes of my life.
"At ten i shaved my head and tried to be a monk"
fucking nutjob! i love it
I was given a promo to review for the uni paper. It's patchy, but some of it is gold, especially the Black Hole stuff.
I'm still holding out for album number 6 being decent. Rivers was talking about an 8 minute prog epic in an interview recently!
on album number 6!
I hope he says biatch!
"words and dreasms..." line from across the sea
Oh, the redhead said you shred the cello
And I'm jello, baby
all of Falling for you :)
For the Record, I prefer Pinkerton. It feels more natural and more like them.
Weezer album i heard was the 'Green' album so thats my fave. Never really liked 'Blue' very much.
as 2 albums by 2 different bands. However, I love the Green album purely for Crab.
