Rap in 08
So this year it looks like some pretty good rap albums are coming out in the shape of Cool Kids and Yo! Majesty.
For the first time in a while I am actually quite excited about the genre...
Any other good stuff coming out?

I'm most looking forward
to Pete Rock's new one, NY's Finest. It's been two years in the making and the tracks that have leaked so far have been impressive. He hasn't really made a dud album yet so I have high hopes.
It's also be nice if Immortal Technique got round to releasing The Middle Passage. I'd be curious to hear Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2, but it's going to have to be something special to come close to the original.
^^^
too rite, Pete Rock is a genius, Finest will be awesome, without a doubt. swift & changeable?? some new mf grimm would be nice, or some premier stuff.... hopefully some more dilla beats will surface.
and LEWIS PARKER
on the subject of Dilla
have you heard Dillagence? I haven't cared for much of Busta Rhymes' recent material but I've heard good things about it.
yeah, i've heard it,
it's basically ruined by busta rhymes shouting throughout the entire thing. but the beats, course they're gonna be good.
pete rock is great
but the two soul survivor albums are basically the definition of "stylistic prison". the same terms could be applied to most of the guest mcs
pete rock's sound is well definitive,
i wouldn't mind coining his sound, sick. the guest mc's on soul survivor - o.c, big pun, cl smooth, kool g, raekwon AND Large Professor... it's immense
I think the Cool Kids
are a bit of a one trick pony, although I would at least give their album a listen. Yo Majesty I haven't heard.
Hip-hop is really struggling at the moment, especially major label wise. It seems like A&R men have been chasing round the country for the past few years seizing on fledgling or novelty scenes then not sticking around (Atlanta, Houston, Bay Area) when the first few records aren't very succesful.
I am looking forward to the new Spank Rock (despite their last EP being a bit lame), Cadence Weapon (based on a few tracks heard last year) and David Banner.
Hip Hop is getting better
Rap could be improved a lot because within the last few years it has not gone anywhere, but backward.
agreed.. its like 98 again
loads of great underground acts coming through
if you like Pete Rock and Dilla you should defo check the Panacea album which came out on Rawkus ;ast year... one of the albums of the year but criminally slept on
SWIFT AND CHANGEABLE
PLEASE.
it's 'about 75% done' according to this dude

'HHS: Is there anything else that you would like to add?
Basically these guys know the importance of this project and the impact it will have on the hip-hop world, so of course they are taking their time to make sure everything is perfect. Once it is done we will make a official public announcement so until then just hang tight. I assure fans it will be well worth the wait.'
If it does arrive it's quite obviously going to be the shit.
.
That Ghostface and DOOM album will never happen. Mark my words.
New Eyedea & Abilities out soon
or so i heard.
Beast.
I'm really looking forward to the Flying Lotus lp
this whole wonky post Dilla Sa Ra flex thing is shaping up quite nicely. It just needs actuall MCs over the beats now.
Yeah
Flying Lotus is incredible. His production skills are exceptional.
Obviously not as tight as these guys though...

Rap is alive, but barely breathing ;-)
Atmosphere
are releasing something soon. Also, the free album they gave out at christmas is damn good.
LIL WAYNE! CARTER III! MARCH!
(unfortunately, looks like this cd be the year that T.I. goes to jail, but let's hope not - or he busts out again, obvs).
cant wait for this
hope he comes to the uk to play live
He may well be in jail too
:(
