Control - Ian Curtis biopic. Reactions etc?
I don't know much about this forthcoming film and I'm not a fanatical Joy Division/Ian Curtis devotee (although I do think their records are incredible) but I do shudder when I see posters and reviews which say things like - "The Coolest British Film of 2007" (The Independant). This was a real man who made amazing music, was mentally ill and died in tragic circumstances - yeah! Cooooool!
Know what i mean?
I suspect the film might be alright but I have a general problem with the above and also with people looking for the truth and historical context in a well scripted and executed piece of entertainment.
Am I just being uptight or does anyone else have a problem with this kind of thing?
