Rough Trade Album Club
Has anyone seen this? Couldn't find any other threads.
Obviously there are plenty of examples of singles clubs where people bought into the concept (Rough Trade records' own one included) and this has carried on with digital options.
But albums are a different matter, more expensive to buy (and thus mistakes are more costly), more commonly downloaded to try in advance, and the whole 'album club' idea still carries a whiff of Britannia Music Club about it.
Is it needed? Could this be a useful recommendation service provided its picks are sufficiently non-mainstream? Coming from an outlet like Rough Trade, I'm genuinely interested to know whether anyone would subscribe. Thoughts?
