YOUR Carling Weekend highlights
Do I need to put a 'TM' after that?
Anyway, I am now clean but still smelling of fire, and I want to know what you enjoyed the mostest at the annual corporatism meets rock festival that is Leeds/Reading.
Mine:
-Nine Inch Nails, Friday at Leeds. Amazing, just aurally and aesthetically fantastic. And I got to see Aaron North break a lot of things. Best thing I've seen all year.
- !!! are the most fun band I have ever seen. Just 40 minutes of pure dance fun. No-one with a soul could stand still.
-Dinosaur Jr- LOUD. Just Like Heaven, Little Fury Things and Freakscene made me a very very happy and deaf little boy.
- Frank Turner pulled out the set of a lifetime. Hearing a whole tent shout THATCHER FUCKED THE KIDS out loud gave me that warm inside feeling you get after taking a massive dump. (On Maggie's face)
- Silversun Pickups. Probably my highlight. Just made me smile from ear to ear. They were a band who wanted to be there, and they made sure we knew that. Beautiful sound.
Honourable mentions to: Battles (excellently wonky as ever), The Shins (surprisingly converted very well live), I Was A Cub Scout (lovely and angsty), Foals (angular!) and Eagles Of Death Metal (pure entertainment)
Smashing Pumpkins were good, but disappointing. Sparta were plain bad.
Thoughts?
