GHOST
A collective of Japanese musicians headed by guitarist Masaki Batoh, Ghost records commune-minded free-range psychedelia with equal debts to the Can / Amon Duul axis of Krautrock, as to the West Coast units of Blue Cheer and Jefferson Airplane. Formed in 1984, Ghost began by playing only freeform music and, acccording to reports, the group lived a nomadic existence, drifting from ruins of ancient temples to disused subway stations around the Tokyo area and putting on shows at Buddhist temples, churches, ruins, in the woods and in caves. Their recordings are more constructive, however, mixing the guitar-led elements of psych-rock with ethnic / folk instrumentation and improv experimentations. 'In Stormy Nights' - Ghost's ninth full length release for Drag City - is out now.

AUM SAHIB
Aum Sahib formed three years ago with the intention of exploring the dark side of non-western music through the use of improvisation and noise aesthetics. They have a varying line up of musicians and non-musicians who draw on their vast communal collection of unusal instruments and home-made electronics to create spontaneous compositions. Each performance is dictated by the instruments chosen for that day - they are currently using dictaphones, thrift store junk keyboards and Turkish Saz to create shifting, free associating sound pieces. Aum Sahib have releases on Beniffer Editions, Perhaps Transparent and Fluorescent Friends and have featured on radio stations Resonance FM and WFMU, as well as appearing live with such luminaries as Sir Richard Bishop, The One Ensemble and Gang Gang Dance.
