Your Ten Favourite Hip-Hop albums.
Favourite not best. Best implies objectivity, favourite implies the ones you listen to most, dance to most and embaressingly rap along too most...
Anyway Mine:
Dr. Octagon - Dr. Octagonecologyst: as weird, freaky and hilarious as hip-hop gets. I still haven't heard someone who raps like Keith.
Clipse - Hell Hath No Fury: This shouldn't really be here. Maybe I won't like it so much in a few years, but for the past few months I've been listening to it pretty much solid and its appeal hasn't diminished: defiantly a keeper.
Mobb Deep - The Infamous: Hip-hop at its most bleak.
Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Lynx: The Godfather, if it was made by a tubby black crack addict rather than a suave Italian.
GZA - Liquid Swords: The guests all kill, the rhymes are tight as fuck and beats icy cold.
Wu Tang Clan - Enter the... : This shit changed hip-hop forever, and spawned so many other great albums, two of which are on this list.
Dizzee Rascal - Boy in Da Corner: Even after a good four years of Grime these beats still sound as fresh and weird as ever. Dizzee's simultaneously anthemic, introspective and conscious.
Eric B & Rakim - Paid In Full: Eric B really should've been president
Madvillain – Madvillainy – For Doom records I could’ve easily picked Operation Doomsday or V. Vaugh, but it's the combination of Madlib's stellar beats and Dooms blunted rhymes that make this so special.
Nas – Illmatic: Would you trust a hip-hop 'fan' that didn't have this on their list?
