Jim O'Rourke
is my hero. Well, sometimes. Is anyone else a fan?
Of the pop albums I have:
Bad Timing (which is brilliant if a bit too John Fahey without being as good as John Fahey)
Eureka (most poppy and fun of his records, perfect driving music)
Halfway to a Threeway (Best thing he's done by a long stretch 10/10 amazing amazing amazing. The lyrics are laugh out loud funny if crazily disturbing. Raping disabled people etc)
Insignificance (a bit short for a full length but the second best thing he's done in my opinion. The opening track is godly).
Of the "unusual" albums I have:
Disengage (pretty much silence and buzzing over 2cds)
Scend (silence + children playing on transparent vinyl/gorgeous packaging)
Terminal Pharmacy (silence and occasional drums/other instruments for 1/2 second bursts)
Xylophonen virtuosen (horrible, horrible record. The most unpleasant thing ever recorded by anyone ever.)
I think I've probably got all I need by him (I have the Gastr del Sol albums and most of the big things he's produced as well). Is there anything great he's done I'm missing? He seems to be the most prolific person out there:
He needs to do a new solo album soon.
