Midlake last night
Wowser, that was superb.
Two amazing gigs in 3 nights (Sufjan was the other)
Birmingham Barfly is such a good venue. The knob quotient seems far better than at the Academy. The sound is 10 times better and the beer is 60p a pint cheaper.
The band were great. Very tight. Harmonies in check. They'd got to near the end without playing any of my 5 favourites off Van Occupanther (Roscoe, Bandits, Head Home, They Gathered in Spring, You Never Arrived) but then they played 4 of them in a row to end the gig (missing only TGIS).
Also saw Edith Bowman AGAIN and Tom from Editors. Edith's hair was looking lank and greasy!
