Les incompetents split
Just thought Id start this inevitable topic. Its a real shame, even though I never liked them that much. Had good energy about them
This is the myspace blog which pretty much confirms it. Unless its a hoax or something, but I doubt it. RIP Les incompetents.:
DEATH IS NOT THE END. LES INCOMPÉTENTS RIP
Firstly, and most importantly, we're pleased to announce that Billys
making a full recovery. He's now out of hospital and at home, and is
generally recuperating. You might even have seen the 'hardest man in indie' alive and well at Way out West tonight. Sorry if the updates have been a bit thin on the ground but after the guy handed himself in we wanted to try and keep the story out of the press as much as possible. A few things had been picked up from Stan's bulletins and on top of everything else we just wanted thestory to settle down and let Bill and his family get back to normal.
A huge thanks to everyone who forwarded the police apeal and generally sent their goodwill....the whole thing was a bit of a mess but life seems to be getting back to some semblance of normality.
Which brings us on to slightly less serious but more pressing news: the
rumours are true...the six of us ARE no longer going to be playing
together. Les Incompénts as Les Incompétents will cease to exist. Our
original plan was to do Wireless, a few more festivals and some goodbye
gigs, a plan which went a rye when all the other stuff that happened.
This still stands, and we want to thank you all for the good times. They
will never be forgotten. At the moment, although Bills getting better all the time he's still not up to gigging. But when he is, it's more than likely that our good friends at WayOutWest or White Heat will provide us with some form of goodbye gigs, and we hope you can all come. So this is kind of what was always, in our minds. It's happening but just in a different order, due to unforeseen
circumstances.
You might be wondering why, on the cusp of an album, TV performances and other good stuff; we decided to kill the dream. Basically we realised that a time must come in every man's life when he must decide between what is easy and what is right.
And by the end of the tour we just realised that there were too many ideas between the six of us to try and hone in to one thing. Meaning that whatever we ended up producing, certain people would be unhappy.
Music wise: Chris will be starting a new venture soon which should be hours of fun.
And Shaun and Frederick are staying together and will be launching their new band 'Ox. Eagle. Lion. Man' soon. Check them out at www.oxeaglelionman.com or the usual myspace shenanigans.
Meanwhile Billys managing 'The More Assured' who you can check out at www.myspace.com/themoreassured. Hell also be back with
something new soon enough. Why not add his myspace at www.myspace.com/billybell.
You will also still be able to buy our the single on itunes etc until Oct 1st.
Of course Les Incompétents wouldn't have been Les Incompétents without the following members, who came and went with the tides of time and creation, yet always helped us find new forms of performance whether it be hitting gold balls at the audience or freestyling to the extent that we all just got a little bit scared (cheers Colin). We salute you all, from those who played one gig to those who played them all:
