A good analysis of Grouper's work as a whole. I dismissed this as a cast off album too at first, but have read two glowing reviews today and so I revisited it. Could well grow on me like her best albums.
Great review though, and agree with the point about taking the albums as whole, the way the distortion rises and falls throughout Dragging... means tracks don't work quite as well removed from their album context (Heavy Water a possible exception).
