yanqui u.x.o. is a phenomenal album, and rewards repeat listening, motherfucker=redeemer is right up there amongst their finest moments
I'm not one of those people who hates it
but I do think it was overstretched as a double, good as motherfucker=redeemer is. The first two records and EP were so incredibly good that I think it did feel like a stumble by comparison, I do think it's their weakest record, even if that's a relative statement.
I very much enjoy the comparitive 'guitarier'

really enjoyed hearing the two "new" ones as Albainian and Gamelan when they played them live over the past couple of years...on record they sound so mean! the drone tracks are great as well...all in all, it's just so good to have them back making decent records. they've sort of "won" post rock.
Got this yesterday.
Felt a bit weird having the drone tracks on a 7" record.. felt a bit odd, as previously the more soundscapey bits were more integrated, with them being on a separate disc they felt a bit out of context and I didn't really enjoy them. But I do hate bagpipes.
Looking forward...
to smiting my ears with this.
