Ben Folds Five - The Sound of the Life of the Mind
Continues Ben Folds’s particularly unwelcome insistence on putting himself more and more squarely in the centre of the arrangements, even as his song writing and piano playing becomes more and more pedestrian.

Hmmm...
Totally disagree on the 'Way to Normal' leak tracks, I thought they were the best thing he'd done in ages, though I agree the actual album was largely disappointing. In fact, knowing that after finishing that album he went on to knock out tracks as good as those 'fakes' meant my faith in him didn't take the kicking it would have done, and I loved the Nick Hornby record... I remain cautiously optimistic.
I'm not even getting involved here
I'll only embarrass myself horribly. I love the record though, I really do.
The first sentence of this review, missing the tongue-in-cheek riffing on famous jazz trios
which the name is derived from, marks out the questionable attack on Ben's ego as a little uninformed here.
Perhaps like Blink 182 the band should have pretended to be young for a quick hit. Change is hard to deal with, eh?
