At the Drive-In, Brixton Academy, August 28 2012
Jim Ward of At the Drive-In may never scream these songs again. But on a Tuesday night in south London, almost 20 years after he co-founded this band, for just over an imperfect but welcomed hour, this station was so operational.

Great write-up
Nailed it
Proper hairs standing up on my back now thinking about it
Like you said it wasn't perfect in some ways (energy, motivation, setlist perhaps), but that didn't matter because it fucking rocked anyway.
Well said
I like the way DiS doesn't do live reviews anymore, just "In photos", but for ATD-I, they'll make an exception!
DiS does do live reviews any more.
Just not as many as before.
...
Glad I wasn't there to see a band that were once fantastic live play an average show for cash purposes. I want a little more than that for my time/money.
allwaystired - keep telling yourself that, I'm sure you had a great time at home with your d**k in your hand.
This show was absolutely awesome - I couldn't care less if some people in the audience had only ever listened to RoC - their problem, their loss, I loved every minute of it.
...
Well, seeing as most people didn't have many good things to say about it (incluing friends of mine) and the nicest thing the review above could say was that it was OK, I think I'm glad I turned down the chance of spending £40 on it. I'll spend that £40 seeing bands that want to play, and play with passion and conviction thanks. It's nothing to do with the audience only knowing ROC- no one has said that at all. All I've heard are that it was a deeply average show. OK, so I wasn't there, but when there are whole threads on this very site full of people saying how average it was, I'm assuming that's what it was. Yes, I saw them many times in the past- and that's where they should have stayed.
I'm glad you thought it was "absolutely awesome"- for you it might well have been, but the majority of people seem very bored by it all.
Personally I think it's a great shame that now they'll probably be remembered for a half-arsed 'comeback' than the great live act they were.
Anyway, each to their own. Nostalgia isn't for me.
Quality show
I can see the argument from both sides, however i personally thought it was a brilliant performance. Obviously comparing now to 2000 or 2001 is stupid. I went to see them back then when i was 20 (Leeds fest/London Astoria) and they were some of the most exhillarating shows ive ever been too. This was right up there for different reasons. i am now 32 and loved every minute of it. Still one of my favourite bands ever and tuesday didn't change that.
By the way the tracks of Vaya and Chanbara were the highlights of the night for me.
