Graceland Giveaway: Win the 25th Anniversary Edition of Paul Simon's classic album + Hard Rock Calli
To celebrate the release (it came out yesterday!), we have been given a pair of tickets to Hard Rock Calling on 15th July to see Paul Simon perform Graceland live. Blimey! One winner gets those tickets, plus them and the four runners up will win copies of the 25th anniversary edition CD/DVD!

The obvious one is Vampire Weekend
David Byrne's solo work. Maybe Diplo in terms of cross cultural pollination?
Islands and Vampire Weekend
I love this album. Box set looks sweet.
...
Peter Gabriel- Womad seemed to be a direct result of hearing the album, and probably Dreadzone.
Hmm.
I’m going to go for an obvious one and a more controversial one.
Obvious: Mentioned about 6/7 times, but Vampire weekend, mostly in the rhythm section of their tracks.
Less obvious/more tenuous: Hans Zimmer in both his Power of One and Lion King soundtracks. I know that they were both obviously inspired by trips to Africa and the settings of their films, but I can’t help but believe that the scores of both films would not have happened without Graceland.
Vampire Weekend and Wild Beasts.
Alt-J and Hot Chip.
Because I've been noticing a lot of Simonesque vocals trills on An Awesome Wave and those horn stabs at the start of the new Hot Chip record surely couldn't exist without You Can Call Me Al.
In My (prize-winning) Opinion
Jag & Crane
tUnE-yArDs and Fair Ohs
Me - and my mate!!!
Yeasayer (Odd Blood) and Animal Collective (there's as much a Paul Simon-Graceland influence as there is a (sigh) Beach Boys influence...)
Good question!
How about Maps & Atlases and Tom McRae?
Friendly Fires - Graceland...
On Friendly Fires album 'Pala' listen to 'Pull Me Back To Earth'... That has got to have been influenced by Graceland.
Don't forget Johnny Clegg
Vampire Weekend is the obvious one and Peter Gabriel. But an interesting question would be how much influence Johnny Clegg and Juluka had on Graceland.
m ward, jens lekman
Graceland
Peter Gabriel and some recent Andrew Bird
Vampire Weekend and Hot Club de Paris. They totally did the best cover version of You Can Call Me Al.
I also made this Spotify playlist a few months back. It contains 'one' song. http://open.spotify.com/user/danjordan/playlist/21eITC3sgnHNrc8TmXB1Qg
Graceland.
U2 and Spinal Tap.
