First Listen: Madonna - MDNA

"I've been to a couple of playbacks," comments one journalist after hearing Madonna's MDNA in full for the first time. "The louder they play the album, the more worried the record label tend to be about it." 'How loud was this particular listening session in the bowels of Abbey Road?', you ask. In a word, earsplitting.

  • I don't know how I feel about this

Obviously I haven't listened to the record, which seems to be getting positive reviews. But the first two songs are bad and she seems to have recorded it in a complete hurry, right after her film, to have an excuse to go on tour (where all the money comes from). It's a bit disappointing because in the 90s she was actually a pretty good songwriter and an interesting personality who made some valid points (about sexual emancipation, gay rights etc). Now, it's like she's decided that BUSINESS-wise it's a more profitable allocation of time to let others do the songwriting and her to just add a few quick lyrics..why get very involved with the songwriting when she could be making money opening gyms? :( On the other hand, the fact that she's flopping I thing sends an interesting message: sometimes "selling out" is the worst thing you can do commercial-wise.

  • :-S

anyone up for a track by track review of this review? actually, is this a review?

  • You may not like the review but

there really is no need to call the journalist a cunt or, from the Facebook comments, a faggot. Grow up.

  • are you Madonna?

Why are you being so petulant? Seems like a pretty fair first impression of a poor effort by a lazy, self-absorbed out of touch musician who stopped trying. Get over it, kid.
