School Of Seven Bells - Ghostory
Sean Adams writes... I love this record because it’s the exact album I was hoping M83 was going to make (just for me) last year. I love it because it’s everything School of Seven Bells' soaring debut promised, and all the things the follow-up wasn’t to be. I love it because it’s shoegaze gone a bit headlight-staring, drums-as-guns, guitars-a’blaring then guitars-gone-misty, all the while I’m a reviewer-gone-gushing-puddle-of...

4/10 in today's NME.....
Cripes.
BBC digs, too.

4/10 in NME
isn't it strange how two people can hear different things?
Not for me
Great review Sean, but I'm afraid I really don't like it too.I really like shoegaze/dream pop (90's mostly), but I find SSB really sterile. I felt the same about Asobi Seku. I guess I find her voice quite soulless. The voice is always the deal breaker for me. My friend asked me if it was the Corrs. (now, that is harsh!)I'm glad everyone else likes it though :) Really wanted to get into them as I loved the first Secret Machines LP.
Regarding NME...
...they definitely hear different things. Some of the trash they give fabulous reviews to makes me wonder if they were even listening to it!
Is it me or does NME look a lot less like a 'serious' music magazine and more like an indie 'Smash Hits' ??? It seems to have gone downhill dramatically.
Further regarding NME...
the review is written by Mark beaumont so can be dismissed immediately as rubbish.
