Fiery Furnaces fellow slags off Radiohead, confuses himself, looks a little silly
These so-called spats always seem like much ado about nothing, and they mostly are. Still, let's not turn up the opportunity to have a little laugh about them all, anyway. Here we have The Fiery Furnaces frontman Matthew Friedberger have a bit of a poke and bash at Radiohead because of, what he sees as, the band latching onto anything that's perceived as 'cool'. Really?

I'm cringing more for NME.
Eleanor is his sister. Gross!
Maybe Matt is married to someone else, someone who's not his sister?
Hahaha I'm laughing
That is BOGUS
fiery who?
Genuinely hilarious
:D
This is funny
errrr
partch's famous scale is 43 notes to an octave, not 48 as you seem to be keen to point out, mr friedberger. irony, much?
Pwned
The man is a whole world of fail.
He has a point.
Radiohead do try too much to have that 'music-for-intelligent-people' vibe around them. If they really are intelligent (or just crafty), that's another question.
blahahaha
cringe
Oh no
The worst thing is, he's said that "like all creative musicians", he's not a fan of Radiohead - as if to suggest that anybody who holds them in any esteem is somehow lacking.
Probably won't be alienating any of his fanbase. It's not as if people who like Radiohead will also like The Fiery Furnaces.
Er...
I like both bands.
I notice
They've now claimed the whole thing was an intentional joke, on their myspace blog:
"Matt naturally thought it would be interesting to pretend that [Radiohead] wrote a song about the celebrated American composer with a similar sounding name, hence his joking in the interview about Radiohead composing a song with something like 48 notes to an octave"
Errr right guys.
Having interviewed Matthew
I'm pretty sure it's a joke as it's the type of thing he does in interviews. The funniest thing is how all the press jump on it. I love both bands and wouldn't be surprised if Matthew likes Radiohead too. He's just being silly. Get over it.
He's obviously a berk. Get over it.

Cos he's not trying to sound like he's really experimental or anything. See the last 4 paragraphs.
