Santo El Diablo

Santo El Diablo are an innovative new band from three London based friends and musicians; Andy Munro, Pat McGarvey & Jamie Fisher. Their sound is a mixture of psychedelic laid-back pop songs layered over a post-punk guitar working groove.

Without traditional rock drums (No kick, no snare) Santo are trying for a more original sound and to emulate the basic tribal rock'n'roll feel of a Mo Tucker or a Francis Clay.

Brilliantly sweet and sour harmony vocals soar over spiked and reverberated guitar passages, whilst the songs are about getting seven shades of shit beaten out of you, the 'joys' of smoking dope while relationships crumble all around and everything else they've been feeling recently; these subjects matter - love, commitment or the lack of either are used to illustrate and colour this modern indie/power-pop led sound they’ve achieved.

This is the best music and lyrics of their careers so far which includes writing, arranging and performing with bands and artists like The Arlenes, Western Electric, Pool, Bob Neuwirth, Amy Rigby, The Coal Porters, Acoustic 650 and others.

Those influences concentrated upon include Gene Clark's strange way with chords, Lee Van Cleef's badness for it's own sake, Sonic Youth's wayward mellowness and the continuing search to filter emotive music from the movies they dig (like the brutal cult classic 'Assault On Precinct 13' or the menacing Mitchum bruiser 'Night Of The Hunter'). Hence the movie related title of their debut EP...
