Distophia

Signed to label: Necessary Records

It has taken eight years since the idea of Distophia was conceived by an eleven year old Pete Dixon, to settle on a line-up that could do justice to the sound that Pete could hear inside his head- a design ethic that incorporates perfect pop welded to cascading swathes of white noise and feedback; melody fused with vast, raging dissonance.

Pete's vision was brought a little further into existence by a fateful meeting with bass player Sebastian Lenton in late 2000, with gifted drummer Tom Whitfield and lo-fi singer-songwriter John Biggs falling into the group as time rolled on... The band proceeded to create a series of brutally powerful recordings inspired by the likes of Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr and Pavement, and began to make inroads into the heart of Birmingham live music, garnering many fans locally with their distortion-drenched sound.

It wasn't long until word spread out of Birmingham and soon Distophia were invited to support the likes of Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, Alec Empire, Kaito and Miss Black America, among others. Distophia's debut album 'Soda Lake' is available now through Necessary Records.
