Badly Drawn Boy

Signed to label: XL Recordings

Badly Drawn Boy (aka Damon Gough) is a one-time winner of the highly acclaimed Mercury Music Prize. His career started with the releases 'EP1' and 'EP2' on his own record label, Twisted Nerve. This preceeded the acquisition of a six-figure deal with XL Records.

Musically, Gough incorporates simple hummable melodies sung over strummed acoustic guitar, with ethereal harmonies and kitchen sink-style percussion underpinning his fragile songs. His oft-derided live performances have been called both "original" and "scattershot" by critics, unused to being subjected to ten-minute musical digressions and unfinished noodling. He has so far released two well-received albums; The Hour Of Bewilderbeast (2000) and Have You Fed The Fish? (2002), plus a hit soundtrack to the Hugh Grant movie About A Boy (2002).
