CHARTS! Goths everywhere

dogs die in hot cars Both Him and The Rasmus are in the Top 10 UK singles chart this week, Him debuting at 9. Those Busted boys fail to get to No. 1 - Eamon is still there. Hiss! The Streets only go in at 4. Oi oi oi.

Further down, Dogs Die In Hot Cars jump in at 24 with 'Godhopping' (psssst! We hear a re-recorded version of 'I Love You Cause I Have To' will be the next single), Britney Spears appears to have crept UP the chart from 27 to 18, while Marillion plummet 25 places to 32.

There's nothing else worth mentioning, so we'll make up the rest. Let's say there are new entries by, ooooh, let me think: Orange Orange, Sucioperro, The Hidden Cameras, Oceansize, Menswe@r, North & South and The Dopamine Theory.

OK, bye.

  • CHARTS! Goths everywhere

Menswe@r, hehe i remember them on totp. Im sure they presented it before they even had their debut single out?
    • CHARTS! Goths everywhere

I have to confess to owning 3 or 4 menswear singles and the album. They weren't that bad...were they?

      Well, there was worse anyway.
    • CHARTS! Goths everywhere

Is this news? Put something worth reading on.
      • Re: CHARTS! Goths everywhere

Oh, fuck off and have a wank instead.
        • Re: CHARTS! Goths everywhere

          i love you adie!

          • Re: CHARTS! Goths everywhere

umm i'd much rather read about the charts on here than have to trawl through the Radio 1 site or *gulp* listen to the chart rundown....
            • Re: CHARTS! Goths everywhere

they were the mcfly of the nineties.
              • Re: CHARTS! Goths everywhere

no that was the Dum Dums.
                • Re: CHARTS! Goths everywhere

if you're really interested i think it's yahoo who do the top 75 now. it gets updated at a completely random time, much later than you want to read it. there are a couple of other places online, but i think they're updated even later. if its just for the top 40 use ceefax. i think it's now page 535.

i admit, the chart rundown is getting quite annoying. mainly due to Wes's pronounciation of "Busted". highlights of Sunday's programme included dogs die in hot cars, and lostprophets on the phone (and the streets only being at 4, Shadydie has mentioned).

i should really have better things to with my sundays...
                  • Re: CHARTS! Goths everywhere

What?? Their album was an absolute gem. I can't be the only one who thinks that.

                      • CHARTS! Goths everywhere

What do people see in The Rasmus? At least with some of these people I hate I can sort of see where people are coming from, but that track is just completely horrible. I kid you not when I say that someone I know, upon hearing it for the first time, said it sounded like the Backstreet Boys. It's the most over-produced, tuneless piece of crap on the market right now - it's worse than HIM, it's worse than Linkin Park, it's even worse than L**p B****t. I don't think I can adequately describe its suckiness in one short paragraph.
                        • CHARTS! Goths everywhere

                          ''it's even worse than L**p B****t. ''

                          'Lump bucket'?

i used to just listen to the last 15 minutes, then you get the complete chart run down without having to listen to it all.
the rasmus song i guess is pretty easy listening and has an easy to sing along to chorus (all be it mindnumbmingly tedious and crappy), so i guess thats what people see in it. and i disagree that its worse than linkin parks previous efforts. although thats not saying much. ps. i dont like it, but its listenable.
                        • CHARTS! Goths everywhere

i read it on teletext then i don't have to listen to any of it. in any case, even if something decent does make it into the carts odds on the dj's never heard of it.
                        • Re: CHARTS! Goths everywhere

they got on my wick, all i could see was this fake jump up and down thing they did. Busted adapted it nicely. Pastiche pop moves.

                        • Re: CHARTS! Goths everywhere

nice to see criticism is handled maturely....

I don't wanna hear about the charts, I'm not interested in bands competing with each other, I'm interested in gigs and music and records, not "who sells the most" pissing contests.
                          • Re: CHARTS! Goths everywhere

Then don't read this clearly marked article (CHARTS! was a major give away) and read about the stuff you do like rather then make such childish comments!
                            • Re: CHARTS! Goths everywhere

Childish? Nah. It's not NEWS. News is important.
                          • Re: CHARTS! Goths everywhere

If you don't want to read about the charts then why did you read the story clearly marked 'CHARTS' and why have most of your comments been on the last story I did about the 'charts'?

It is news. It is news about who's in the charts. Duh.

Are you expecting me to stop writing these stories just because you don't like it? Because many others obviously do.
                            • Re: CHARTS! Goths everywhere

"Oh fuck off and have a wank".....

Or more correctly, yes I know its about The Charts, the Charts AREN'T news, gigs, records, THAT's News.... unless of course DIS aren't sufficiently clued into recent events and announcements and resort to putting in "Non-events" as News in order to make the page look busy.

How can anybody possibly take DIS seriously when you insult your critics with playground insults? You do it to yourself, you do.

DIS is just like the NME, but with abusive staff.
                              • Re: CHARTS! Goths everywhere

It is news. And other websites (nme and playlouder including) do chart rundowns too, so why don't you go and insult them as well? People read the stories. Why do the stories about the charts receive more hits than any other story in a given week apart from anything about Reading/Leeds/Glasto/someone dying/getting dropped? The chart stories aren't put up to 'make the pages look busy', they're put up because I do them every week. Do not insult me by telling me to 'put up something worthwhile' after the number of reviews, interviews and other articles I've put on this site.

It is simple: don't read it, and leave it for the people who want to read it.

You haven't answered my question: why have most of your other comments been on stories about the charts, if you're not interested in the charts?
                                • Re: CHARTS! Goths everywhere

the charts are good for a chuckle, and sometimes i light *cuffaw*.

What exactly is the problem with having Marillion in the charts? It's one less piece of braindead boyband crap in the top ten. Surely thats a good thing?
                                  • Re: CHARTS! Goths everywhere

Oh, that's easy.... I'm not interested in The Charts, I'm interested in the music. Or dissing bad music. Any excuse to bait Marillion's Star Trek fanbase is a good thing in my book.

I have no idea what else you put up on the site, haven't been looking, I'm sure it's jolly good stuff. But if you are talking about insulting people, my insult was considerably more polite than yours. And later.
So people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. After all, you can always "fk off and have a wank"... ha. Bet your mum's really proud of that!

It was your insult which started the thread. There was no justification, there was no reason even for a comment like that to be posted. I'll say it again: you're 'not interested in the charts' (proved otherwise but hey...), so don't read it. Just because it's something YOU are not interested in, it doesn't mean it's 'not news'.

                                      Jeez......

You can quote the 'wank' thing again if you like.

I was just wondering WHY the Charts count as "news" when they are not. As for insulting people, I wasn't going to say anything personal, whats the point?
                                        • Re: CHARTS! Goths everywhere

Hey Adie? I think I have a life thank you, but maybe you should be more willing to accept that as a News Article it is not necessarily newsworthy. News is something that people don't know, or might be interested in. Lets face it, when The Sisters of Mercy, The Mission, The Nephilim, VVM, Evanscene (or whatever they're called), Rammstein, and all the other Goff bands were in the charts, maybe Goths would be everywhere. Oh sod it, you're boring. Bye.

                                            Again.

Ramus, if thats goth music mate then think of some random really horrible way to kill me.
HIM, theyre more melodic metal, which is quiet nice espically since theyre scandinavian, and not killing rival bands for attention!

Id class Goth music as depressing & art variations on indie or punk music.
Look at its roots guys, 1979 punk and indie kids know those scenes are collapsing and begin to do their own things.
Id see Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, or Sisters Of Mercy differant examples of goth music.
I know the scene is differant now and has expanded but just the style of dress or depressed people who seem to listen to it dont make goth music.

"News is something that people don't know, or might be interested in"

Yes, and as I've already said - the story about the charts get far more hits than most other news stories, ergo they are 'stories people want to hear', just not one YOU want to hear. So listenn to this: DON'T FUCKING READ IT THEN! How many times do you need that spelled out?

I'm glad you can now accept you are wrong and a hypocrite. Please don't bang your arse on the way out.

For the record, a definition of news is "information about recent events or happenings." Now, as these acts recently sold enough copies of their latest single releases to secure a position in the listings ranked in order of sales, known otherwise as "the charts", this article is deemed news.

As Adie keeps trying to tell you, if you are not interested in something, you are wasting your own time by reading it.

                                            I challenge thee:

write a letter to the NME criticising them...

if they even bother to print it, it'll only be to take the piss out of the correspondent.

far better way to get your point across to NME hacks is to find them at gigs and thump them.
