Patrick Wolf

So this dude is pretty sweet. Which one of his albums should i buy? Thanks in advance for your help!

O yeah, and British people are so much cooler than Americans. I went to england over the summer, ya'll effing rock....but the food, is so small and.....bland. O well. Perhaps hotel rooms could be larger? haha. Anyways, using this post to say that britian kicks ass

  • Re: Patrick Wolf

    Jeez thanks.

'Wind in the Wires' is better and more interesting IMO, but 'Lycanthropy' is probably more accessible. Depends where you want to start.

    Sorry about the 'small' food.
    • Re: Patrick Wolf

haha.....it's fine.....i'm used to outragous proportions. But i must say, i could tell it was better for me and i think it tasted better....but god damn it took me a long time to figure out "chips" were "french fries"

Thanks for the recomendation, i'll try that first one you said.
      • Re: Patrick Wolf

both albums are good but i prefer the first one.
        • Re: Patrick Wolf

i ve not yet listened to all of the 2nd one but i reasure you the first one is brilliant. buy both i d say if you have the cash
  • Re: Patrick Wolf

    Lycanthropy is much better.
Wind In The Wires is still good though.
    • Re: Patrick Wolf

i agree. ive got wind in the wires and a couple of tracks offa lycanthropy, and it appears that the debut is genius whilst wind in the wires is, like, pretty good.
      • Re: Patrick Wolf

Why do you think he needs larger hotel rooms?
        • Re: Patrick Wolf

          Chips aren't french fries.

And british food is not bland.
          • Re: Patrick Wolf

Actually - he does have a point about British food.
Unless you pay more than £10, for a meal, it generally sucks.
            • Re: Patrick Wolf

I prefer Lycanthropy, and British food isn't bland. As for small hotel rooms, well you only need a bed and a shower so what's the point in anything bigger?
  • Re: Patrick Wolf

Americans like everything big. BIG. *shrugs* Lycanthropy is difficult to find here in the states (at least in my neck of the woods.)

Hope ya stick around mr blkandwhtsight, it's sometimes lonely being the only American. *sniff, sniff*
    • Re: Patrick Wolf

hahaha. But of course. Us Americans should stick together and whatever, your food is much blander than American food. TRUST ME haha.

As for hotel rooms, i need....well.....room.
      • Re: Patrick Wolf

I suppose because your meals are bigger you do need more room yes. Fatty.

        ;-)
        • Re: Patrick Wolf

I'd say exactly the opposite actually. Lycanthropy is far better and more interesting (of course, IMHO), but WITW is more accessible.
          • Re: Patrick Wolf

What does accessible mean in this context? Surely, if something is better then it is more accessible. Are you assuming that people have to be drip fed interesting music? I say that every maternity ward should be bombarded with Robert Johnson, Don Van Vliet and Mark E. Smoth.
            • Re: Patrick Wolf

"Are you assuming that people have to be drip fed interesting music?"

No, I was getting at that upon first few listens Lycanthropy seems to be better, but I think over time Wind in the Wires offers more with repeated listens, there's hidden depths to the music that I don't think are in Lycanthropy in abundance.

It was more a warning that upon hearing the two albums once, you'd probably be more inclined to buy Lycanthropy, while I believe that Wind in the Wires has more to offer in the long-term.
              • Re: Patrick Wolf

I think Lycanthropy is much more interesting musically and lyrically because Wind In The Wires is grander, but less coherent, with more metaphor and less autobiography, more grand sweeping changes and less electronic glitching and buzzing. WITW is made more in the traditional singer/songwriter mould, whereas Lycanthropy feels more like the work of an avant-garde innovator that's taking influence from all over the musical spectrum. Also, Lycanthropy is much more positive and much more self-aware, and Patrick doesn't reign in his voice (or ideas) so much.
