No.

No

It is rather great if I come home drunk and listen on my headphones though.

No

but you can listen to any music stoned.

INCORRECT

you can

any music acctual goes into your ears while your stonned there is no two ways about it.

without being all "he, i used to be a proper stoner. AREN'T I KEWL?" about it

i used to be a proper stoner, and i hated listening to far more music back then than i do now. If the slightest thing was out of sync or the drummer was anything less than perfect or it contained a bad lyric then i just wouldn't be able to listen. It would piss me off massively.

I used to fixate on the minor, auxiliary negatives. Now i focus on the broader positives

I use to be a massive stoner too

ages ago. I couldn't listen to DJ Zinc or it would make me ill hehe.

but thats just down to personal preferance rather than not being able to do it.

^

This.

I don't touch the stuff now. Burial is just brilliant music, it certainly doesn't need drugs.

music

for coke and red wine connossieurs

coffee table

buyers

and a tibetan singing bowl

in the middle for the white stuff...accompanying a copy of Wire and Solicitors Journal

haha

I actually dig Burial though

The first album at least.

second is a bit meh...

and the first one is incredible considering the actual creative processes involved

I love Burial

I can't get enough of it, I was just joking along.

This sounds like my home

(I wish)

me too

apart from the drugs, I wouldn't keep them on the coffee table the whole time that would just be silly.

put them in a coffee jar

with coffee...

offer the rest of the household a cuppa

listen to Burial

now this is a good plan

if I was a rich city boy heheh

and then ware some robes or maybe just slum it with a hoodie on.

Jesus

Christ

wow

'Masters of Wine'

I bet you get a cape and all sorts

Hey man

Solicitors Journal is a good read!

As in, coke and red wine mixed?

I didn't know you could be a connoisseur of calimocho...

Nah

It's for shirt-wearers and pillow punchers. And of course don't forget the toe-scratchers!

'shirt-wearers'

surely we're all guilty of this crime

(or am i really missing out on something)

Nah

music for people too embarrassed to buy "Best of chillout 2008" from HMV.

^

I have this too :)

I can't find that anywhere

:(

and why isn't it nominated for the Mercury Prize?

I have tried

3 times now with this. still dont get it. dont see what the fuss is all about

"Best of chillout 2008" or Burial?

Burial aint for everyone of course. Best of chillout 2008 on the other hand is just awsome and everyone and their mums should have it.

I know

I mean who doesn't like to chill out once in a while?

everyone

just need to kick back on that bean bag get some jaffa cakes and chillout man.

'Untrue' is awesome

Not heard the first one. Is it wildly different? His sound reminds me a lot of 'Mezzanine'-era Massive Attack.

his first one

is darker with less vocals. Amazing stuff.

which one

do you recommend buying first?

first one

I don't listen to the second one really.

But you might like it.

heck

they are both ace but I think Untrue is more imediate and accessable just kinda they are both pretty dark.

The first one is kind like very dark and twisted two step,

Untrue has less of a forboding feel to it, some slightly more varied beats and like Jimi says is more accessible. I'd get Untrue first as if you bought Burial first then (if you're anything like me) you might feel a little let down by Untrue. Don't though, it's an awesome album, just some of the vocal samples grate on me after a bit (but I'm an intolerant git).

I hated Untrue

when it came out. The pitch-shifted vocals really irritated me and he seemed to be applying his style to a more 'mainstream' music. It has more to do with UK garage than Dubstep and therefore felt like a step backwards. The fact that the vinyl doesn't have any of the beatless tracks seemed to confirm that it was made for the clubs and radio.

Now I like it considerably more. Once you get over the novelty of the soundworld he creates there isn't that much to keep you coming back to the first album whereas the vocals and (slightly OTT) string/chord arrangements really hook you into the tracks on Untrue. Although I mostly listen to the 2 together on random I generally prefer the Untrue tracks.

I totally get why some people don't like it but I can't get enough of Burial. Can't wait for the DJ Kicks.
