Has anyone ever toured an album into the ground like The Gossip?

Seriously - I didn't have pubes when that thing was released

although at least they've got a new one out now.

    • longview

have been grinding out the same set on and off since 2003

      • Gah!

I saw the thread title and thought "I'll get this in before someone else does".

They're touring again soon, allegedly for a new album. I just hope his lyrics are better this time round.

Or they could just re-release "Further" again.

        • i saw a posting on

          london gumtree..

band seeks drummer, for more info email... (it was something along the lines of info@long-view.com) hahahhhahahahah.

i do like that album though!

    • Yeah,

they certainly thrashed that thing. But to be fair, aside from the fact that their album came out slightly after and they've now put something else out, they were a new band trying to establish themselves - The Gossip had been around for ages.

I wonder if we can get a sweepstake going about which will come first:

      1. An official release of Chinese Democracy
      2. A new Gossip album

    • ^ I saw this thread and CSS were my first thought.

  • Surely they can't be touring the album AGAIN

I don't mind Gossip though, although I prefer the older stuff, like any true indie snob would.

    • They rolled it all out again at Glastonbury

I've got no problem with the band, I just think maybe - just maybe - it might be time to write something else....it's not like it was even a long album to begin with - was it 10 tracks?

      • Erm

They also played loads of new songs at Glastonbury.

        • They played songs at Glastonbury?

All I could hear was Beth Ditto wailing, they barely even played their instruments.

  • Kate Nash ?

    .

  • Kaiser

    Chiefs?

    • chiefs

how many more times do they need to tour. seems like evry 2 minutes. i still have aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh ooooooooohhhhhh aaaaaaaaaa ringing in my bleeding head. have a day off ricky for fuck sake

  • gossip

They've had new songs on their myspace for ages.

I think the new album is finished but the record label have put the release back till january?

The gossip have paid they're dues for years, they deserve to milk every last bit of success 'standing in the way' brings them.

  • Klaxons

did for quite a long time. Pretty much until about the end of last summer, they toured the same set since starting out didn't they?

    • The pretty much only wrote 11 songs

and went and played them in the same order every night for 18 months.

pretty amazing that the managed to stay exciting live.

  • i remember the prodigy touring "the fat of the land"

for pretty much the entire time i was in uni, and a bit after that, too.

  • The Dandy Warhols

toured "13 tales..." for about 3 years too

    • Franz Ferdinand

did their debut album pretty much to death. As did Scissor Sisters.

      • The sex pistols?

Truly the kings of touring an album into the ground, they've been doing it for 31 years!

      • franz - hardly

the second album came out within 18 months of the first!

  • queens of the stone age

around the time of rated R toured it to death, i think i saw them on 5 seperate occasions at festivals/club gigs over about 2 years , basically the same setlist, they did the same for songs for the deaf too, i saw them 4 times on that tour!

    • so true!

they were still touring Deaf in early 2004.

    • JoHo

can do what he likes. He's the Lumbering Ginger Elvis of RAWK.

  • how else

are they supposed to make money?

    • it shouldn't matter

they should just be happy people are appreciating their art.

  • Johnny Foreigner

  • Howling Bells

Seemed to tour the UK constantly for about a 2 years. Think I must have seen them about 4 times in Nottingham alone. Maybe not as long some of the others but they barely seemed to leave the UK.

  • Mercury Rev

    Deserter's Songs.

    • battles

they keep humping mirrored (although its not been out that long, still tehy always seem to be playing)

  • The Holloways

They've played Norwich Waterfront no less than 6 times since their album came out and are still touring it.

  • Metallica toured the black album

for between 3 and 4 years, playing to several million people.

Guns'n'Roses did just about the same to the Use Your Illusion albums and it destroyed the band.

  • the rifles

  • That vapid annoyance

Jack Penate has been playing the same dozen or so songs for at least three or four years.
