If I bought a Macbook from Amazon.com, would it be any different from the British version? Would it work here? It works out much cheaper than buying one in this country.

power supply would be different

might cause problems.

Would that just be the plug on the end of the charger?

Or do their plug sockets carry different charges?

it would work, yes.

i don't think there are any (major) differences between the uk and us versions, but if they are they must be small and insignificant.

you might have issues once it gets here

import tax n' tha...

i got mine on american ebay, and got the guy to say it was a 'gift' still paid £100 for shipping and taxes...though the ibook was only £150 anyway.

My plan is foiled

Apparently there are shipping restrictions on it :(

is it about 500 british pounds?

if so, you might as well just wait until you start university/can get access to a university computer as you can buy it for 600 through the network and with a 3 year warranty included, the same price it would probably come to from the american website.
