Ahahahahahahahaha

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Mate

Though, yes though, Policemen & Pirates. I know the way of threads is one lover, one hater, one lover another hater but please not here, not Moseley Shoals, not today. Its a really good record with tunes. Let's just agree and revel in the nostalgia. I'm going to listen to it right now with a beer in my hand, cheers guys

just wait

til the day time wankers get their hands on this.

Ocean Colour Scene may not be cool, but that's one hell of an album and pisses on most of the shit touted on here by you psueds.

x

How many members..

of Ocean Colour Scene does it take to change a lightbulb?

One

to change the lightblub,

Three to ask Weller how it was done in the 60's!

I told this to OCS once at Glastonbury in the signing tent. They told me to Fuck Off.

Nice lads

God you're

funny. Thanks for that funny funny little anecdote.

:D

i don't think Weller

was making music in the 60's

they should have smashed your face in anyway x

Funny that

Because when people insult me to my face I take it quite jovially

The "joke" that Rev_Kramer told to OCS was pretty insulting

and he then seems surprised that they reacted badly.

I was making the point sarcastically that when you are directly insulting to people they usually don't respond too well

ah yes,

I would agree with that.

It's

a joke though.
Just a joke.
Don't you ever joke with your mates and piss take?

I like this joke.

Very good.

really, really

poor pub rock.
A Wetherspoons pub full of past its sell by date pissy lager and one-rohypnol-from-a-date-rape "blokes".

That's

a quality joke that, and extra marks for actually telling it to Craddock's face.

Hurrah!

it's a good album

Obviously OCS need to be mocked because their attitude to everything is so, so wrong, but it's a shame if people can't admit to quite liking Moseley Shoals.

I would

happily admit it but it's piss poor and they are a terrible, terrible band. Plod, plod, plod guff.

people like you

ruin this world, with your hate hate attitude for things you don't understand.

stop

Today's big argument is going to be about Ocean Colour Scene?

HAVE A FUCKING WORD WITH YOURSELVES.

Babylon 5

is a big pile of shit.

Got some

sand in your vagina?

no, please carry on

I agree.

hahaha

yes, disliking OCS and their complex lyrics and mystical rhythms is at the heart of our declining society. If only we could all just let OCS into our hearts. . .

GO AND FUCK

YOURSELF.

No that doesn't work very well.

Sorry I didn't pick up on the subtle nuance of the argument enough for you. Twat.

Duh.

.

I loved this album.

If you're 25-30, and not indier than thou this record probably meant a lot to you. Shit band, but this is a near-perfect record, or at least was to a naive young lad, 'Lining Your Pockets' & 'Fleeting Mind' in particular were'are brilliant.

^understands

ignorance isn't bliss after all x

It didn't mean 'something' to me

but I do admit to having given it a few listens when I was 16. i recall rather liking it at the time, but once you've discovered the whole Beatles back catalogue and a few extra Stones tunes there really is no need to listen to this record again.
Nice enough melodies but so painfully derivative in that way that leaves you cold. Doesn't appear to be anything personal on the record.
On an unrelated note I have decided that Big Star > > > > > most other bands ever

ummm...

i kind of do.
i know all new music can be traced back to something else but when it feels just like someone may as well have done a bunch of covers as they've given nothing of themselves in their own record, it's pretty worthless.

I appreciate

that everything is derivative to a degree but when it feels like a blatant rehash it does gall slightly. In instances like that (that Jet song is a good example) you just think 'why not go straight to the source' rather than waste ear time on ersatz guff.

^

i kind of agree, and without getting into HUGE arguments this is how i feel about the Hold Steady, i would rather just listen to Bruce Springsteen than some poor imitators of him

i don't really think

it makes you "indier than thou" to divorce away from music you liked as a teenager. it's just reassessing things, innit.

although for some reason i haven't yet chucked my Catatonia CDs...

i agree but,

those Cd's are part of your life and i could never divorce myself of them no matter how uncool a music forum tells me they are.

Perhaps because

I didn't agree with everything that Sandee Vagina had to say. Much like a giant baby, Sandee must think the whole world revolves around it and it's opinions and anyone who may not get EXACTLY what it means is WRONG WRONG WRONG. If you just want to read stuff that agrees with what you say why not just get a crayon and paper and sit in your bedroom quietly writing messages to yourself. Then jazz all over it whilst listening to OCS's AMAZING LIFE AFFIRMING oeuvre.

Thats it though

i totally agree with what you say but, you offer no argument you just express your opinions as if they are fact in a really arrogant way. When somebody dares confront you with the same tone you tell me to go fuck myself??

The 'fuck' comment

was a joke based on the response of someone further up hence why I said "no that doesn't work very well" I was trying to suggest that just using GO FUCK YOURSELF was useless as a riposte.
Gah! You can "confront" me as you wish but perhaps not take yourself so seriously.
What argument can I present about not liking OCS (this is the most bizarre exchange I have ever had) - I just don't like them. I find their music plodding and dull and very "beered-up bloke in a cricket hat". Do you want me to get rulers, calculators and graph paper to prove it? Perhaps if you find a stranger ranting about music they like/don't like and expressing opinions on a forum distressing to your sensibilities of conducting a well informed debate DiS is not for you. (May I suggest no one recommends Lipster as we may have a Code Red/tears before bedtime scenario). Lighten up. Express opinions! Opinions don't have to be facts. That's why they call them opinions "A belief or conclusion held with confidence but not substantiated by positive knowledge or proof".

Thanks for the advice

i'll be sure to take it on board and not take myself so seriously. Judging by this though, maybe you could do the same? seriously though don't fucking patrionise me.
I just don't like arrogant remarks disguised as "opinions"

Really,

get over it.
It's a messageboad not the Nuremberg Trials.
"Don't fucking patronise me". Are you serious? Serious as cancer?

haha,

god you're great.

Yes i was serious Don't fucking patrionise me.

set my Dad on you...

my dads harder than your dad.

Right.

You should lighten up though - that was a nice try so well done.

you see patrionising again!

i am fine and light and loose and easy going and everything you seem to think i am not.
i am seriously phoning my Dad and Uncle now.

You! Me! Patronise!

I am sure you are a very nice individual but please don't let a few rants from a total stranger about OCS on a messageboard wind you up so much. I am genuinely not trying to "fucking patronise you". Perhaps you are, dare I say it, a tad over sensitive?

Did your Uncle ever patronise you and tell you not to tell anyone?

OCS are still a massive pile of shit.

why do you jump to the conclusion

that anyone who slags it off is doing so because a music forum says they're uncool?

as i said, it is entirely ok to revise judgement on music you liked as a teenager. it doesn't make that music any less a part of your life, it just means you have some perspective.

I didn't

jump to any conclusion. I agree with what you said.

I'm 25-30.

I'm certainly not 'indier than thou'. It's a terrible record. It was then, it is now.

Snap, but add 3 years

I did once have the album after the hype of Riverboat Song. Realised it was shit at the time and soon got rid.

Snap

Now THERE'S a band.

I can't be the only person

who really enjoyed this when it first came out, then went off them.

"Hundred Mile High City"'s alright though.

This is a brilliant read.

I loved that record when it came out.
But then I was a beer hungry, indie loving 16 year old who would gobbled up any OCS, Mansun, Oasis, Shed Seven, Blur, Pulp, Dodgy, Weller, Bluetones, Gene, Elastica, Sleeper, Echobelly, Gomez, Embrace... that hit my ears.

Only now we can see which of those bands' albums have stood the test of time.

Hindsight is a lovely thing but there's no point denying your past.

now you have to stick your neck out

and say which of those bands are objectively good

I'd have to say...

OCS, Mansun, Oasis, Shed Seven, Blur, Pulp, Dodgy, Weller, Bluetones, Gene, Elastica, Sleeper, Echobelly, Gomez & Embrace. :D

But really, of those bands' albums I still listen to Attack Of The Grey Lanterns, Modern Life Is Rubbish, Different Class and Expecting To Fly semi-regularly.

I second the bluetones

expecting to fly was the first album I got into. My brother owned it and I played it over and over until I new every part. I can't help but be filled with nostalgia when I hear it now.

Pulp

and most of Blur.

This album and others like it

helped start my progression into better music. It's a great rock record with nothing to prove. It's a shame people have to dismiss ok-good records that they maybe over hyped in their past as rubbish. What's wrong with calling a good but not great record good but not great?

I haven't seen it at other festivals

but the Riverboat Song is usually played as warm up music for acts higher up the bill at T In The Park. The crowd then stands going 'uh uh-uh, uh-uh-uh' along to it. I hold it responsible for Chelsea Dagger

I was going to defend the riverboat song

but anything that even MIGHT BE responsible for Chelsea Dagger should be eradicated from all of history.

OCS

are second only to Kula Shaker in the all-time hit list of shitness.

Third? Toploader.

The

Bravery?

whats with the

Brit-rock/brit-pop what ever it was called nostalger latly...

First Mansun, now OCS whats next?

Bluetons?

Oh wait I just read them being mentioned...

you day pose

really are no fun are ya heheh ;)

posse?

;-)

*ahem*

crew...

apologies,

nostalger I could forgive, but Bluetons ? isn't that a disease that affects livestock !!?

yeah

thats bad ass

I have to say,

this is better than the last OCS arguement. Anyone agree ?

all i'm going to say

is that it has gone a LOT better than the Reef thread.

Don't fucking

patronise me!
WAAAAAAAAAAH.

i remember a guy we knew years

ago was obsessed with ocs,we just called him ocean colour nick.

Thats all
