Apparently Heavenly records are holding a festival featuring all their old artists- does anyone know the line-up?
I've copied this from an email but that's all I know:
FOREVER HEAVENLY
Friday 12 - 14 September 2008
A weekend festival celebrating 18 years in the life of the Heavenly Recordings label. ounded in 1990, Heavenly has been home to artists from Saint Etienne and Manic Street Preachers through to Beth Orton, Doves, The Magic Numbers and Edwyn Collins. Now upon reaching some kind of adulthood, the Heavenly label has decided it's time to have a party.
For three nights, they take over Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Purcell Room, bringing back the great and good from the label's entire history, and putting on the best urban festival line-up of the summer. Expect stadium-sized special guests alongside acoustic troubadours, the odd Sunday Social stalwart and those who are just Forever Heavenly.
Smoke Fairies
On the bill I think. Definitely worth seeing if you like Gillian Welch/Neko Case. Really, really good at Lounge on the farm.
ARRRRGGGGHHHHHH
Why have I not got this e-mail??? Not on the web-site either. My fave label ever, I owe Jeff Barret my musical upbringing, starting with St Etienne and Primal Scream popping pils at the Albany right up to the new Loose Salute LP.
They have always been a little sketchy at organising things!!
Glad it doesn't clash with Bestival!
Predicted line ups:
Clashes with End of the Road
Balls.
This also coincides with a number of new Heavenly releases
and 'comebacks' of friends!
eg new Doves and Beth Orton
new lps from Little Ones, Beggars (who are awesome), Loose Salute.

Not bad
But not as 'stadium-sized'as the members' email predicted.
Presume Ed Harcourt will worm his way in there somehow.
Notable there are no Festival Hall shows on the Saturday or Sunday. Do we think they are keeping something back..?
ok
when on sale? I wanna go doves so bad...
On sale now
On sale now if you are a Southbank member
http://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/festivals-series/forever-heavenly
I might have to join...
Tomorrow
for non-members.
I advise membership. You get priority for all shows across South Bank, including Meltdown. And access to a relatively crappy bar upstairs which admittedly has nice views and no queues.
Depends
Who the 'very' special guests are?
I can't go anyway as just realised it clashes with end of the road fest :(
indeed
i hope and pray they don't mean the manics
Why?
Do you hate the manics? or are you hoping aginst hope that it is Flowered up?
actually
i take that back...if they came on purely as a cameo and did 'motown junk' and 'you love us' then pissed off i'd be quite happy with that
That's actually what they're doing
according to NME.com.
They're only playing the six tracks they released on Heavenly, so that'd be...
Motown Junk
Sorrow 16
We Her Majesty's Prisoners
You Love Us
Spectators of Suicide
Starlover
...sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.
...oh, they appear to have taken it off the website.
Well it was definitely there earlier in the day!
Some notes
Beth Orton is playing 'Trailer Park' in full.
Nada Surf are playing 'Let Go' in full.
I'm getting me some Saint Etienne tickets asap...
Why would Smoke Faries have been playing?
This is going to be brilliant.
It's already totally sold out.
east village
please
I have it on good authority
the manics are playing, but only 6 songs. The six recorded for heavenly. So that is:
Spectators of suicide
You Love Us
Sorrow 16
We Her Majesty's Prisoners
Star Lover
and the other one I forget
Sold Out
Every ticket for every show!
Lost Classic
That East Village LP
