Hi,
Am going to End of the Road, looks amazing but its too far away so am considering a little Green man first. however the line up is pretty poor. In your opinion is it the kind of festival that you can enjoy without liking the bands, or is that pretty important there?
Ta

*miffly
not iffly. That means even less than miffly, which doesnt mean much to start with.
line up ain't poor
if you think that then you're better off not going aren't you? It's a great festival but doesn't have loads of fields to wander off into ala Glastonbury but does have some nice areas, great food, great people, great DJ tent (my highlight last year, esp after the bands finish). Oh, and great surroundings as well but just pray it doesn't piss down as it gets muddy real quick.
Okay ta
I might give it a miss then. My poorly worded critique of the line up was a bit harsh as there are probably a load of bands I havent heard of that I could discover, but the main acts are poor.
Much as I like Spiritualized and SFA I have seen them both a million times and its not exactly hard to see them every other week anyway. The national will own it I expect. I fucking hate Badly Drawn Boy, Iron and Wine are shit at the moment etc etc etc. I worry that it isnt worth it when the act I am most interested in (other than the National) is the singer from Gomez!
It is cheap though and nearby, so may make it. Out of interest, it looks really smug too. Is it smug? Honestly?
Nah, it isn't
It's really laid back, quite family orientated (lot's a kids), you will spot quite a few camping chairs as well. I wouldn't say it was smug. Just people enjoying a small(er) festival amongst a great crowd with great bands. I went last year but can't make this year what with just having had a kid myself but I rate this years line up what with Archie Bronson Outfit, Black Mountain, Howlin Rain, David Holmes amongst others playing.
Does sound really nice
Might give it a go, not least to annoy this person below.
well you don't like the line up and
it looks a bit smug, I'd say best you avoid then, better of going to V or Reading maybe ?
Idiot
The bands I know I'm not fussed about, it looks a bit smug, so I was asking if anyone could recmmend it as a festival, rather than just a list of bands. If they could then I might be tempted to just go and see and enjoy the festival itself.
Stop being so bloody indie
idiot ? nice, enjoy your summer !
I guess you
two won't be sharing a wobbly bonding singalong around the campfire at Green Man then....
Hopefully you'll decide not to go.
it's a great festival
lovely surroundings and crowd - i'd be happy enough paying for a ticket and just sitting in the dj tent all weekend! the line-up this year looks alright to me (howlin' rain, black mountain, archie bronson, caribou, magik markers, cath and phil tyler ....) and i'd be there for sure if i didn't have other stuff going on that weekend.
