Now, I don't want to turn this into another 'what Blood Brothers album is the best' because those threads are dull, just like the Weezer ones. Let's just focus on this one album for now.
What a fantastic album. It kind of showed me that punk rock doesn't have to be all three chords, verse-chorus-verse-chorus. It was dangerously unhinged, chaotic, completely different to anything I'd ever heard before.
So yeah, thoughts? Favourite track? For me, 'God Bless You, Bloody Thirsty Zeppelins!' is perhaps my fave. It's the way the structure of the track changes so much and the build up of "Oh my god, the bombs are falling!"

i loved this album when it came out
but now it just gives me a massive headache. i can't bare it at all. :(
i think this means i'm too old.
If this wasn't DiS
i'd say this was the best hardcore album I can think of.
But i'll probably get a thousand people telling me to try harder.
It's definitely up there with the best hardcore albums, fo' sure.
Hardcore? Blood Brothers?
What.The.Fuck.
Just to clarify
I am in no way knocking the band (they were good at what they did), but no matter how hard you try to justify their tenuous connection with the scene they're just not hardcore.
I love The Shame
and how it cuts out right at the end when you're not expecting it. I remember the first time I listened to it I was so blown away.
great song.
When I saw them last July they played that last, it was awesome. My friend who didn't know it was really confused when they cut it off so suddenly, as he was really getting in to it. :D
i LOVE this album!!
cecilia and the silhouette saloon and the salesman denver max, and actually all of them but especially them.. god its so good. and possibly my favourite final song of any album? definately the best end to an album i think..
so much love
Yeah
what you said :)
agreed
the blood brothers were probably 1 of the most punk bands in existance. they did whatever the fuck they wanted and made it absolutely brilliant. fave tracks off this album are 'every breath is a bomb', 'cecilia and the silhouette saloon' and 'the shame'
as much as
i love the blood brothers i do prefer crimes
Fucking's Greatest Hits is the best on the album
why was crimes slated
most accesable?
bit
of a shift really I guess from Burn Piano Island, it's certainly more 'arty' and veers awar from the hardcore side of things.
yeah
less raw
more polished.
still great though
Cos Burn
was just more visceral and anthemic. The savage bits are more savage and the weird bits I think are more interesting.
And yeah Fucking's Greatest Hits is their best tune.
Or...
Burn was produced by Ross Robinson (producer du jour in 2003), hence more meeja attention?
Crimes and Young machetes are brill, but different. Not worse, just different.
I named myself
After the first line from Cecilia!
What an album. It's so all over the place- noisy, groovy, intense...and the lyrics! Has any other band matched these guys for surrealist, nightmarish poetry?
"The Vicadin volcano spews and salivates...it's belly bloated like a pre-teen pregnancy..."
"Can you see the angels stringing wires through my face?"
"Cecilia's through slit, like a second set of lips, she drools braille bibles onto the brothel bed spread..."
Come on!
Right now, I'd say my fave track is USA Nails. It just sounds like the world ending, is all.
Nails
is alright but drags on- I think thats my main complaint with the album actually some songs are just a tad too long (bar Guitarmy obviously)
BUMP
awesome video just found!

:D:D:D
Totally brilliant
100% one of the best hardcore albums of the last 10 years. I think New Erections by The Locust is up there as well. Fuck all the purists. B,P,B is as raw and deranged as Jane Doe.
Favourite track is Guitarmy.
I love this album
I also feel the need to remind everyone of 'THis adultery is Ripe' I feel it gets left out of the Blood Brothers Love In.
And the song American Vultures
off March On Electric Children. Insane.
yeah i know what you mean
and its not like it's not a great album in its own right - because it is! the quality of the subsequent output was just so good i think thats why it gets fogotten.
they have often played Jennifer when i saw them which was awesome, and the face in the embryo is one of my all tme favourites for sure
*when i have seen them
up there
as one of my favourite bands ever, were soooo good when i saw them. As much as i like every single album i'd say 'march on electric children' is my fav album. Love their DVD too, watch that bad boy all the time!
