'Standing Next To Me' is the best single from 2008 so far

Since other people are making similarly outlandish statements today, like this:

I thought I'd make this one. Except, I actually do think it is probably the best single so far this year.

  • who is it by?

    I don't know this tune

  • Oh easily,

if not the best single of any year.

  • aaaah I own this

    its a standout for sure

  • oh yes, definetely

In fact, I think it may be the single most important thing to happen in the history of mankind and it is doubtful that anything in the same league of monumental will occur within the next one hundred thousand years.

  • Meeting Place

one of my favourite songs released this year I think.

    • Did you see 'guigu01' comment?

"That is shit, the most baddest song i ever listen to, it's awesome like it's awful
      adios amigos"

  • It is a good pop song

I've been listening to this album again this weekend, and there are some good songs on it - Calm Like You, My Mistakes and Meeting Place. It's a pity about all the press overkill.

    And the strings <3

  • is this the one

that's a major, major rip-off of Maybe The People Would Be Blah by Love? Like, shamelessly so

    s'alright

  • Agreed

It's just a fantastic, effortless pop song. I don't care if they're aping Scott Walker's sound or not - the melody is pure pop brilliance.

  • One of the single's B-sides,

"Hang The Cyst", is fantastic. Mind you, I think that Turner's B-sides are generally very good.

    • ^ this

'Too Much To Ask' off the Fluorescent Adolescent single is a teary late night classic.

      • ^

That's such a great song. His b-sides are always worth a listen. Bigger Boys and Stolen Sweethearts is such a sweet song too.

  • No

All it does is remind me The Jam were once a pretty great band.

    • Really great

Pop single, love the 60's garage rock feel to the whole album.

  • It's okay

But it's not as good as Ready For The Floor, or Two Doors Down. TRUFAX.
