Anyone got mates who always tell pointless lies?

eg,
"Alright mate, you on your way cos we want to order food soon?"
"Yeah, we've just set off in the car."
"You're still in the flat aren't you?"
"Erm... yes."

I'd be less pissed off if they just said summet like "sorry mate, running a bit late but will be there as soon as possible." He lies all the time when it'd be better just to be honest. Idiot.
