I enjoy playing de drums along to many a popular song. Is there owt good anyone knows of that has a steady tempo but no drums? Am I right in thinking Nico has a good drumless album?
Well there's the obvious stuff like some classical stuff, plus singer-songwriter stuff etc, but was just wondering if anyone can recommend sommat a bit more left field...
but the songs aren't really drummable IMO - it's mostly avant-garde stuff that has more in common with classical music than rock music so I'm not sure it would work.
...(at least the purist's sort) is drumless. You could try practising to the Johnson Mountain Boys. It's still very rhythmic (the banjo and to a lesser extent the mandolin tends to provide the percussive element).
Nickel Creek doesn't have a drummer. Neither does Alison Krauss, but I sort of went off her when she did that godawful racket with Robert Plant. She was getting more and more Melody FM anyway.
I think they call that genre
classical music
Nnnngh

Final Fantasy
end of thread
yes that's right
it's the one and only correct answer, end the thread.
are you talking fairly mainstream melodic music?
Can you not remove the drum track from songs?
Is there not a music editing program that can do that?
You could probably remove parts
but you will loose a lot of other parts as well
yeah thats near impossible
as the drums still cover a wide range of frequencies..
then again there may be some amazing program that can do it pretty well.
Hugo Largo
two bass players, a violinist and a singer. Made two albums, Drum and Mettle, in the late 80s. Well worth checking out if you can get hold of them.
Regina Spektor's first three albums
"Soviet Kitsch" in particular (bar 'Your Honor', of course).
The first four Nico records are drumless

Thanks for the suggestions ppl
some good stuff ere, i've been meaning to get into Final Fantasy. Keep em coming :)

M83
Maybe try some early M83 stuff, especially Dead Cities Red Seas. Its mostly drum-free and bass/supersaw-synth driven.
